Security and Mobile Development

By Bill Oakes posted Jul 11, 2018 03:53 PM

Once upon a time, I was a coder.  And while I certainly did NOT subscribe to nice clean code, I did create some very unique apps - including one that virtually every movie studio and sound editing company purchased.  Now, this was pre-mobile, but it wasn't pre-security - nope, I had to write my own security system for most of the apps that I created.  And while I loved coding (until I didn't), building security into my apps, to use a very technical term, sucked.

Fast forward a few years, and while the entire coding world has radically changed, one thing hasn't.  Building security into apps remains quite high in the list of things coders hate.  And as mobile devices continue to proliferate (and get lost/stolen with company confidential, or even worse, PII, on them), security requirements are just going to get more and more stringent.

The REAL challenge for coders (and their managers) - especially in regulated industries - is how to create a native security experience in mobile apps that's convenient, frictionless, and is secure enough to meet audits and compliance requirements, and provides developer velocity - maximum value without high costs to develop, operate, or support?

Over the last couple of weeks, I talked about Communication is an Illusion, as well as How can you validate you are really you? and how CA's Rapid App Security provides a comprehensive authentication platform the the application economy, providing real-time fraud prevention and contextual authentication while simplifying the user experience.  But what about the developer?

For you coders, this looks familiar:

What if you could replace all of this with loginWithAuthID() (User ID, AuthID Pin)?  THAT is what Rapid App Security does for the coder - the ability to provide complex authentication simply and without the yoke of learning (and coding) security algorithms.

Sound interesting?  I invite you to spend an hour of your time on July 12th (tomorrow) at 11am (EST)  to learn more about Rapid App Security and how your enterprise can easily implement it to help your customers enjoy a seamless security experience, while you increase retention and adoption as a result - and for you coders, security that is faster and cheaper to implement - without becoming a security expert.

Join CA Technologies hosts - Brian Nobbe, Sr. Principal Consultant, API Management and Carol Alexander, Senior Director, Security Products - to learn how to quickly build and maintain modern, frictionless, and secure apps for your customers.
