Time calculation in CEM Time Distribution graph

It has come to my attention that there is missing information to understand the percentile data calculation and provided average data. This is mostly due to that part not existing in our CEM Training anymore.

Business Transaction Time Distribution Graph

When you look at the table, some customer's tell me that making the math, computing the average of the percentile values they don't reach the same result as the Average column in that graph.

That is because to compute the Average value and the Percentile values in that table, the same source of data is used, however the percentiles are computed using the Median value, while the Average uses the average values.

If you look at the Box-Whisker graphs, you also see 2 lines connecting these: The Dotted line is the Median line while the blue one is the average line. And these are also not identical.

And to understand the difference in that, check out this little graph showing us so much more than words could do:

Average vs. Median data graph

Median uses the distribution of points, while the average also uses the time these points were collected.\
