Introducing CA Technologies DocOps Platform: What it Means for CA Client Automation

With the release of 12.9 last month, I wanted to introduce you to our new documentation platform: CA DocOps.

We live in an application economy where software development agility is measured in days and hours rather than months.  For this very reason, software development has moved to Agile methodologies, including our own development teams here at CA.  But while Agile and DevOps drive code and test agility, technical content development was not up to speed. The old school Content Supply Chain cannot support the business agility that DevOps requires to be successful. The new documentation approach solves that. It was conceived and built around the need for an improved customer experience with product information.

It is exciting news that CA Technologies product documentation is evolving from a static bookshelf to the collaborative new world of the dynamic documentation wiki with the #DocOps Platform.

We are pleased to announce the availability of the CA Client Automation documentation on the DocOps Platform. To access the CA Client Automation's DocOps site, type wiki.ca.com/cla  in your Chrome or Firefox browser. This persistent URL will always lead you to the latest GA release documentation of Client Automation.

This platform is a collaborative environment that lets you:

  • Find answers quickly with intuitive search
    • The search string you enter will search the entire site content for CA Client Automation returning you all instances of the string searched

  • Provide feedback by rating or commenting on any wiki page and get back quick responses

  • Allows CA Technologies to continuously evolve documentation based on feedback
    • Our Information Services resources monitor the site for comments and suggestions. They respond directly on comments and feedback and are able to resolve your queries and comments as soon as possible.
    • DocOps analytics allow CA Technologies to obtain continuous operational feedback and make changes on the fly to improve customer experience.

  • Export the content to PDF

While the wiki for CA Client Automation 12.9 is currently in English only, going forward we plan to provide localized documentation on the site, and at that time, wiki.ca.com/cla will be the one stop shop for all product documentation.

In the meantime, we have published the localized and English bookshelves. They are available on the CA Support Site by doing a documentation search or by using the links below.

We are very excited about the DocOps platform because it allows us to “curate” content from internal and external authors throughout the product lifecycle.  Please go take a look and let us know your comments and feedback!
