In mid January 2015, CA held a DevOps Conference at Ditton Park Manor in the UK. Over 100 guests from across EMEA attended the 2 day event.

 

Agenda:

Day One: Common sessions for both RA (Nolio) & SV (LISA) customers. A dinner was held in the evening.

Day Two: Two separate Tracks, one for the Release Automation User Group & one for the Service Virtualization User Group.

There is a lot going on lately in our community that I wanted to bring to your attention.

 

Let your voice be heard! Take the CA Service Virtualization Product Survey.

 

Your candid feedback is important to us and will help the CA Technologies Executive Management Team understand what is or is not working. The CA Service Virtualization (fka LISA) leadership team will also use the survey results to create action plans designed to further improve the overall experience and value you receive from your investment with us. The survey should only take 2-3 minutes to complete.

About your family: Born and raised in Texas, I have lived most of my life on I35, Austin, Waco, San Antonio, and Dallas.  I have a twin sister who is a accountant who is generally thought to be the smart one out of the two of us.

I love medium format photography, I still use ilford film for black & white with completely manual Hasselblad (model 503 that uses springs to activate shutter). What do you enjoy about your work? I enjoy the fact that I get to work on new features and play around with LISA tool. I also enjoy the fact that I get to interact with different teams, demo the features and help with implementing the tool for them.

 

About your family: Me and my wife Keerthi Its been an year since we got married. My parents live in India.

 

Favorite 3 movies of all time: The Pursuit of Happyness, Swades, 3 Idiots, Jab We Met.

 

Favorite book: I like non-fiction / biographies and I like reading Indian authors like R.K.Narayanan, Sudha Murthy.

 

Favorite hobbies: Public speaking (Active member of Toastmasters), Music (I play Tabla (Indian drums)  and a little of guitar), Travelling, Reading about and driving different cars, Trying out different cuisines (May be cook a bit too).

 

Interesting fact about yourself:  I can tell from a distance, looking at a car in any angle, which model and make it is, any time of the day. I take part in humorous speech contests, I guess I can make people laugh.

What do you enjoy about your work: I am very passionate to learn new things, nowadays there are so many new ideas around that you have so many sources to gain some or more knowledge.
 
About your family:  I had just got married with my long time boyfriend Abhijit Mohanty last December ;). I had shared one of our picture taken at Bangkok.
 
Favorite 3 movies of all time:  I have watched so many movies of different language like English, Odia, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu. There are so many movies I love... aemmm ok so the list starts with Dil Chahta hai, Ocean 11, If Only.


Favorite book:  I am more into Fiction. I love Dan Brown, Nicolas Spark, Chetan Bhagat's collection.

Interesting fact about yourself: My daddy works for Odisha state government administrative service, so usually gets transfer every now and then and so I have spent my schooling in 8 different schools. This is the big reason why I love to travel. I love to spend time with my friends, family. Love to explore new places, different cuisine.

About your family:  My life – I am married to Nadia for 15 years and have two crazy but amazing kids, Asad who is 11 & Mahad who just turned 3. You can see all of us in the picture wearing traditional dresses, celebrating Eid (Religious Holiday) few weeks back.

Favorite book:  Unfortunately all the screen time keeps me away from books…….

 

Favorite hobbies: My kids and wife will say I have no life outside of computer and phone, which is unfortunately right so don’t get much time for any other hobby. Sometime I do biking and play cricket with my son.

 

Interesting fact about yourself:   I loved technology since childhood. Used to master all the functions of every complicated calculator my father used to have. When I was in 8th grade my dad got a really nice casio databank pocket book, which was kind of over his head (because of complexities). I started playing around with it and eventually created PACMAN in it by printing – and > < signs!. Only after getting to my 1st programming class I discovered that what I learned with that pocket book on my own was actually BASIC language. Yeah, Yeah I have been a geek….all my life.

Favorite book: Hmmm I don't read novels it might be since I don't have this habit from childhood or I don't have time to do. If I need to tell some favorite books it should be Engineering books - Digital Communications, VLSI Design, Technology Transfer and so on..

 

Favorite hobbies: Watching Movies, Cooking, Chatting with friends, Reading through blogs.

 

Interesting fact about yourself: I did my engineering in Electronics and Communications and landed into software industry. Still I wanted to have a backup plan if software Industry doesn't suits me at my Mid & Old age, So I did MTech in VLSI and MBA in Technology Management while working. My backup plan doesn't stops here... :-) I  like roaming to different countries, their cuisines and culture. I keep talking to people and try to read their minds and know how people think and react in different situations. I strongly believe in the phrase: 'Changing the Face' can change nothing. But 'Facing the Change' can change everything.

What do you enjoy about your work Talking with customers, hearing their stories about how they’ve used our product to help them deliver results. I also really enjoy working with my agile teams.  Continuously learning from the team architects and developers really appeals to the geek in me.

 

About your family: I am married to my amazing husband Jay for almost 9 years.  We have 2 daughters; Olivia is 6 and Ella is 2 and live in Babylon, NY on the south shore of Long Island.  We live across the street from a canal that leads out to the Great South Bay.  The whole family loves the water and this summer we learned how to stand-up paddleboard (SUP).  We have a 12.8ft board that can fit all 4 of us.

 

Favorite 3 movies of all time: The Matrix, Avatar & Pride and Prejudice though I’m currently forced to watch “Frozen” about 12 times a week.

 

Favorite book: “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen and I also really enjoyed “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell

 

Favorite hobbies:  Running, cycling, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, skiing, traveling, flying my drone, and now SUP.

 

Interesting fact about yourself: Running relaxes me so I run as often as I can.  To keep up with my training, I usually sign up for at least 2 races per month and the distance varies from 5k to 10k to ½ Marathons (13.1 miles).  I also completed in 2 sprint Triathlons and the challenging Tough Mudder with a team of folks from CA Technologies.  Some say having two young kids is enough training but I’m currently training for the NYC Marathon.  The Marathon will be my longest distance so far so I’m looking forward to it!

What do you enjoy about your work:  I enjoy finding unique solutions to unique challenges

 

About your family: I am married (16 years) and have one daughter (8.5 years).  My wife is from Dublin, GA.  I met her while taking a class in Program Design and Development at a technical college in Athens, GA.  I grew up in Wisconsin although I was born in Cass County Missouri and lived in Washington D.C. until I was 5 (my Dad was Marine).  I grew up in Stevens Point, WI and joined the Air Force upon graduating from High School.  The Air Force landed me in Georgia where, as stated above, I met my wife!

 

Favorite 3 movies of all time: Must I only pick 3?  I used to work at a movie theater and I see lots of movies even to this day!!  But, if I must stick to three: Forrest Gump, Jaws, Braveheart.

 

Favorite book: Believe it or not, I don't do a lot of reading (don't have time).  However, I have enjoyed reading  (more than once) "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C.S Lewis.

 

Favorite hobbies: Fishing, bowling, cooking, watching movies.

 

Interesting fact about yourself: I was a meteorologist when I was in the US Air Force.  I spent four years doing that job.  The job took me to the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War (1990 - 1991).  I got to set up satellite communications for transmitting weather info in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
