Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) support is now available for the CA Endevor SCM V18 web services component.

Support for MFA is delivered with PTFs SO07729 & SO07730; the CA Endevor SCM v18 product documentation has been updated to provide information about how to activate MFA.  https://docops.ca.com/ca-endevor-SCM/18-0/en/securing/multi-factor-authentication-mfa

The Endevor Eclipse plugin has been updated to exploit the MFA enhancement. (The plugin is backward-compatible/ operational if the REST API MFA enhancement PTF has not yet been applied.)

You can download and update the Eclipse UI from the public update site: http://plugins.ca.com/endevor-plugin/ through your installations Eclipse-based IDE. If you do not have access to the public repository, you can find the latest version of the Eclipse UI in a zipped format at the following location: http://plugins.ca.com/endevor-plugin/zipped/ and share the files locally within your environment. Review detailed steps in the Install the Eclipse UI documentation section for more details.

I am happy to announce on behalf of the CA Mainframe Application Tuner development team that for CA MAT V12 new enhancement is available via our maintenance stream. To obtain CICS CALLER ID / CALLER STACK enhancement use following links: #SO06630 and #SO06631

What is CICS CALLER ID / CALLER STACK feature:

Using CICS exits CA MAT collects detailed information on transactions and sequence of within program calls including counts and elapsed times see Fig 1 and 2. Feature offers more detailed and accurate performance tuning identification possibilities for CICS oriented workloads. This implementation goes beyond typical sample collection mechanism allowing trace-back of all programs managed by CICS region for measured transaction.

PTF SO05963 (maintenance roll-up) has been published.  This PTF provides a convenient way for Endevor sites to update their v18 implementation with all product maintenance that has been published since18.0.12 was made Generally Available (GA) in April 2018.
Detailed information about the individual PTFs included in the roll-up PTF SO05963 is provided in the CSIQJCL "PTFLEVEL" library member.

The CA Mainframe Application Tuner product team is excited to announce several new features for our customers this quarter:

CA MAT Java support updates:

CA MAT version 12.0.01 now supports many more customer usage scenarios. 64-bit Java 6, 7, and 8 are supported for the following environments:

  • WAS Core
  • WAS Liberty standalone
  • WAS Liberty running in CICS
  • Batch java

The CA MAT team has done a major rework of the Java agent and we now are able to trace Java classes down to the line of code. All environments listed above can now show Java Classes, Java Methods, and the Line numbers.  We can also display the DB2 SQL for all the listed scenarios.

The CA MAT team has added features to allow you to filter results and more clearly focus on the problem areas of your applications. You can now set global filters for Java classes which will apply to all Java analysis. Additionally CA MAT allows you to specifically include or exclude Java classes from the filters. Thus giving a high degree of control over the analysis process and saving unnecessary overhead.

These changes are available in ISPF interface, as well as in Eclipse GUI.

Get this enhancement by applying PTF  SO06316

NOTE: We are always looking to improve Java support. If your scenario is not supported, please reach out to your Product Manager (Ekaterina.Tumanova@broadcom.com)

ADABAS/Natural automatic source code registration:

CA MAT v12.0.01 now automatically registers program source for the Software AG Natural fourth-generation programming language when a Histogram is requested and the program is not already registered.
Programs can still be registered manually; however, now you don’t need to first use a Software AG utility to extract the listing into a sequential file or PDS.
The transfer facility also allows Natural programs previously registered from a PDS to be moved into the new Natural listing manager.

Get this enhancement by applying PTF SO06253

EXPORT command for ISPF panels update:

In CA MAT v12.0.01 the team enhanced the header section of exported screen using EXPORT primary command to include information about the job. This simplifies the comparison of multiple measurements.

Get this enhancement by applying PTFs SO06100 and SO06101

The CA Product Management team is pleased to announce that starting in December 2017 all CA Endevor SCM customers can get enhanced security with the PDS Monitor feature of CA Compliance Event Manager, which they can acquire at no additional cost.

The CA Compliance Event Manager can be used to monitor any changes to CA Endevor SCM-managed data sets and identify changes that were made outside of CA Endevor SCM. When a privileged mainframe user tries to directly modify data sets in CA Endevor SCM inventory, CA Compliance Event Manager will track these alterations. CA Compliance Event Manager can also help you to identify any cases of incorrect setup of CA Endevor SCM security features.

Any changes that were introduced outside of CA Endevor SCM will be recorded in CA Compliance Event Manager’s repository and will be available for reporting. Optionally, alerts can be sent to the appropriate personnel when these types of updates occur. For example, a user can configure CA Compliance Event Manager to generate an email alert or an entry written to the system log (via WTO).

CA Compliance Event Manager PDS Monitor can help to provide that data set security rules and CA Endevor SCM Alternate ID configuration are properly defined and that any privileged user modifications to CA Endevor SCM data sets are monitored. This can help you to identify and act on cases of stolen identities or administrative access misuse.

Entitlement is limited to the PDS Monitor functionality of CA Compliance Event Manager, and only for the purpose of monitoring updates to CA Endevor SCM-managed data sets. Should customers wish to benefit from the CA Compliance Event Manager functions outside of CA Endevor SCM or from other functions of CA Compliance Event Manager, an easy upgrade path is available to bring CA Compliance Event Manager’s benefits to the entire Mainframe.

CA Compliance Event Manager 6.0 Incremental Release is now available for installation in the download area of CA Endevor SCM version 18.

Please look for the CA Compliance Event Manager component in the CA Endevor SCM v18 download area. To get your free license key for CA Compliance Event Manager, follow the instructions in the file called "IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OBTAINING YOUR LICENSE KEY" or "PRODUCTKEYS2017.pdf", which is located in the CA Endevor SCM v18 Product Download.

Detailed instructions for CA Endevor SCM customers on how to install, deploy, and configure CA Compliance Event Manager are available in our documentation:
