Once a month we'll shine our virtual spotlight on one of the CA Plex/2E community's members. It's just a fun, easy way for us to get to know one another a little bit beyond our work-related interactions here on the site. This month, we're featuring RickR , Systems Analyst at UPS.

Location: Mahwah NJ located in the Ramapo Mountains in Northern New Jersey 25 miles northwest of NYC.
Current Gig: CA ESP Workload Automation Administrator at UPS
One word that describes how you work: Inquisitive

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others?

The CA communities is a tool to help me do my job better.  I learn from the many other points of view and also to try and help others find the answers to what they need. Just like anything else the more you put in the more you get out.

Mac or PC?

PC / Linux, not Apple

Mobile Device?

Samsung SII, which is a  hand-down from my son who recently upgraded.  Except for its use as a Bluetooth MP3 player for music in my car, I try to limit my mobile device use. In addition I also have the corporate mobile device.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

The following PC Apps: 7-Zip, Audiograbber Firefox, ImgBurn, PuTTY, WinSCP, VLC Media Player.  Some for work, some for play.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?

My bicycle

What's your daily work space like?

The office cubicle.

How do you balance life/work?

I am an avid road cyclist riding 5,000+ miles/year.  Macopin / Westbrook / Stonetown / 511 - A bike ride in Oakland, NJ

Best advice you can give and you have received?

Best advice I can give is to be passionate about what you do.  Best advice received, from my first IT boss “if you don’t break things you not are doing anything good, just don’t break too much”

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?

I make a breakfast egg casserole that is so good.  I make if for my family Christmas morning as well as for the office party.  At work, I have developed a loyal following. The other day two things confirmed this, first when I was asked what day it would be served this year and second I received the following request from someone I do not exchange gifts with: “I was hoping you were telling me that my Christmas gift would be one entire batch of your delicious casserole, so I can serve it to my family on Christmas morning”.
