Community Member Spotlight - Richard Wilson [Nov. 2015]

By Chris_Stallone posted Nov 17, 2015 10:19 AM

Once a month we'll shine our virtual spotlight on one of the CA Plex 2E community's members. It's just a fun, easy way for us to get to know one another a little bit beyond our work-related interactions here on the site. This month, we're featuring Richard Wilson(Yorkshireman)

Location: Northumbria – ancient kingdom of free thinking Reivers, Vikings, and birthplace of lightbulbs, the turbine, and battleships, to name a few.

Current Gig: Financial Services

One word that describes how you work: Holistically

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others?

Fill in my blanks by asking questions of the galactic hive store of trivia we all hold. Take a steer on new areas and technology to pursue. Talk with CA techies. Payback by offering my own knowledge to questioners where I can.

Mac or PC?

I'll have a Mac please.  I use several of both. Conclusion: “Bill Gates held back computing” One day all software will be as reliable as OSX – no, better. And as secure as IBM i – or better.

Mobile Device?

Another Apple, and others, but iOS leads the race. I hate the way my information is now anywhere in the world. I admire how Apple makes the life/digital interface so smooth. Wish I could be as good.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

Have to have email, and have to have about 0.001 percent of the www. Information. Facebook is the work of the devil.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite item?

Well, staying with inanimate things, I fondle each of my Calvert Stevens CS88's

What’s your daily work space like?

Clear desk

How do you balance life/work?

No balancing. I'm either in 'life' or I'm in 'work' - if they ever get together there will be a big argument and tears.

Best advice you can give and you have received?

Keep a journal and say 'No' to more requests.  - Manage the people, not the (..whatever..)

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?

Foresight.
