It's just a fun, easy way for us to get to know one another a little bit beyond our work-related interactions here on the site. This month, we're featuring Pier-Olivier Tremblay ITMS Tools Consultant- 165016_SSQ Vie Inc.

Location: Québec, Canada

Current Gig: I’m currently working on a training budget management tool using Catalog as the user interface for submitting training Request, and PAM as the engine to manage approval process and to keep Departement budget up to date. Everything is stored in a custom database and displayed to the management with SSRS.

One word that describes how you work: Party! (I work in the same way as I party! Hard and listening to electronic music. Yes, everyone ask me how I manage to listen to it all day long…)

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others? I use CA Communities to get access to an amazing collection of powerful brains! I try to figure out everything by myself before asking out. And when I ask on the forum, I try to provide a context to help the other find a solution.

Mac or PC? PC

Mobile Device? Nexus 6P

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Notepad++

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget? My DJ Controller. (Yep, electronic music) and my Moto 360.

What’s your daily work space like? Monstruous laptop with 3 screens. Two incredible coworkers, one more mature and the other one always throwing out p*nis jokes…

How do you balance life/work? Unless major problem, or project delivery, work stops at 5pm!

Best advice you can give and you have received? Play out of your comfort zone.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? Make people laugh.

One word that describes how you work: Systematically

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others? I review Open Questions to see where I can contribute.  I would encourage everyone to get involved in the communities.  It is only great when there is lots of involvement.

Mac or PC? PC

Mobile Device? Android

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Weather Channel, IMDB, Gmail

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget? I actually won an Ipad Mini at a CA event.  Being a PC guy I thought I would hate it.  But surprisingly I have realized I now can’t live without it.  I still would not say I’m a Mac guy though.  

What’s your daily work space like? Very organized.  I can’t stand a messy desk.

How do you balance life/work? I try to turn off the “work brain” at the end of the day although that isn’t always easy.  I used to think about work through the night and learned quickly that doesn’t work so great.  Being present in your life is important.

Best advice you can give and you have received? Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? I have been told that I am a very positive person and I try to see the good in others.

Best advice you can give and you have received?

Current Gig:  Administering and Developing Service Catalog, IT PAM, and Service Desk for Auto-Owners Insurance.

One word that describes how you work: Methodical and thorough are 2 I’ve heard others use. I would say flexible, I try to handle both people and problems with grace and composure.

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others?

I look for ideas about ways to improve our existing processes and configuration as well as asking other people for their ideas on how to solve problems. And when I can I enjoy helping others find answers to their problems.

Mac or PC?

PC, I’ve never found the Mac UI so much more intuitive or the machine so much better that I thought I just had to have one. I started learning Ubuntu last spring and that has helped me understand Macs and their users/fans better.

Mobile Device? Android, it’s far from new but it’s reliable and it does what I want it to. True story: I used a flip phone till Jan. 2012, so I still navigated using maps and printed directions. In the meantime my father, who taught me to read maps, started using a GPS in 2006. So there I was, a degreed developer(Bachelors in Computer Information Systems) who made a living administering IT systems still navigating using printed maps while my father, a technologically challenged high school graduate, had long ago moved on to GPS. 

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Android: waze and yelp are 2 I’ve used a long time. I’ve just started using MapMyRun. PC: NP++, SQL Server Studio, and SoapUI are the main ones I develop with.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?

I guess I’m not much of a gadget person because I couldn’t think of any that I own beyond the gadgets that came in my car. The backup camera and touchscreen infotainment system with usb and aux inputs are the latest gadgets I’ve learned to use. I am entertaining the idea of joining the fit bit craze, does that count? 

What’s your daily work space like?

Relatively Spartan compared to most, I don’t really ‘decorate’ the space I work in. I probably keep work and life separated a little more than most thanks to reading ‘they don’t teach corporate in college’ while working on my Bachelors.

How do you balance life/work?

I try to leave work at work when I leave for the day, though I can’t tell you the number of lunch hours I’ve spent thinking about the problem I’ve spent the forenoon trying to solve.

Best advice you can give and you have received?

Advice to give: Relationships are always more important than, and often outlast, systems and technologies; don’t sacrifice tomorrows good working relationships on the altar of today’s technologies and systems. Advice I’ve received: Even when you love what you do, there will still be days when you dislike the tasks you’re required to do. My mentor shared that with me about his 50+ year career, so far my experience has proven him right 

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?

Combining an in depth technical understanding of how these systems work with the ability to understand the thinking and emotions behind the requests we receive from stakeholders for additions and modifications to the system.  The intersection of systems and relationships is the real challenge of the job, balancing the request in front of you with the impact to all the stakeholders of the system and then communicating to whomever the how and why of often complex technical decisions.

One word that describes how you work:  Reliable

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others? I have all my announcements and updates made through communities. This is the place where I get a chance to look at how my product is being used in different CREATIVE styles. The ideation process enables us to generate part of our product backlog which is very helpful. My sincere advice is to use communities to full extent and reap the benefits

Mac or PC? PC

Mobile Device? Android (hate iTunes)

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Sticky notes to free up my mind, social media apps for keeping up with my friends

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget? ipod

What’s your daily work space like? Cubicle with lots of friends around me. A coffee cup which says “Go the Unbeaten path” and some idols. I am very religious 

How do you balance life/work? Try to do smart work rather than hard work and take time out whenever possible. I try to forget everything when I am out of office but my mobile always beeps  “You have got an email”

Best advice you can give and you have received? Try to make environment around you very lively and I am known for that 

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? I first try to convince but if the other side is very stubborn then I try to confuse and win the battle.

Location:  Woodstock GA

Current Gig: Senior Support Engineer

One word that describes how you work:  Chaotically

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others? I am just a lowly support tech trying to help out where I can.

Mac or PC? PC

Mobile Device? Android

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Steam

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget? Kindle

What’s your daily work space like? I work out of my basement with my 3 dogs attempting to lend a hand.

How do you balance life/work? I try to leave work at work, which can be difficult working since it patiently lurks just behind the closed screen of the laptop down in the basement.

Best advice you can give and you have received? Find something every day to: Laugh about, Learn from, and Love unconditionally.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? I don’t know.  Annoy my wife maybe? Recall obscure Simpsons references?

Once a month we'll shine our virtual spotlight on one of the CA Process Automation community's members. It's just a fun, easy way for us to get to know one another a little bit beyond our work-related interactions here on the site. This month, we're featuring Paimon Sorornejad, Infrastructure Engineering Senior, Cigna.

Location:  Bloomfield CT, working at Cigna

Current Gig: Infrastructure Engineering Senior.  Our Team is responsible for the dashboarding/monitoring and automation of the infrastructure

One word that describes how you work:  Automation!

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others? The communities are my primary resource when it comes to asking “what do YOU do in your environment”.  One principle that we like to incorporate is not having to re-invent the wheel.  When it comes to automation, or trying to plan how to attack an issue, it’s always nice to get some feedback from the community on how others have tried to solve for the problem.  The idea sharing, as well as community based problem solving has also been valuable to our implementation of processes.

Mac or PC? PC (Booo expensive apple devices!)

Mobile Device? Android (Boooo iphones)

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Some form of social media (for keeping up with friends and family), Eclipse (for keeping my development skills up to snuff), Youtube (For how-tos and a good laugh), and Reddit (because all real news comes from Reddit)

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget? Does my car count?

What’s your daily work space like? SOI running on one monitor, Spectrum/PAM monitoring on another monitor, and Email/Lync running on the third monitor.  Nothing else too fancy around my desk, except a picture of my dog and fiancée.

How do you balance life/work? Cigna prides itself on a Work-Life balance, so when we leave work, we do our best to detach ourselves from the environment and really focus on home life.  My mind is always thinking of innovating and automating which is what makes my work so enjoyable.  When you enjoy what you do, it’s very easy to seamlessly transition from work focus, to family focus.

Best advice you can give and you have received? The best advice I have received and can give is one of my favorite sayings “A bend in the road is only the end if we fail to turn with it”.  Every day we will face bends in the road, and just like driving a car, we follow that bend.  Too aggressive and we will eventually lose control, to lax and we will end up on the side.  Follow the bend with the bend, and you will eventually be comfortable enough where you can speed up and take the lead.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? Well if you ask my fiancée, I’m very good at making jokes when it’s time to be serious.  I take it as a compliment, I mean she is in fact saying I’m ‘very good’ at it right?
