Why did you choose a career in IT/IS?

Having my first computer get a massive spyware/virus infestation at a young age sent me down the path of information systems/security. After cleaning up the mess, I knew I wanted to get into IT in some fashion and did a lot of side-work assembling and fixing computers. I settled into MIS as my field of study in college and ultimate career path in order to bridge the gaps between business needs, security requirements, and technical capabilities. Being able to design and implement secure, user friendly, and standards compliant solutions to meet every day challenges is very rewarding.

What value does the CA Security Community bring to you and your company?

The knowledge of the many outweighs the knowledge of the few. By participating in the community, we are able to better leverage the expertise of a vast pool of resources while also providing our own insight and experience to others. Collaboration, whether internal or with external communities of practice, is key to success in modern organizations for rapid problem solving and ensuring the right technologies are implemented in the right way and for the right reasons.

Favorite dessert: Gotta be plain ol’ cheesecake -- pure unadulterated goodness

Favorite 3 movies of all time: Stargate, Star Trek (all of them…except IV…those whales…), and The Avengers

Favorite hobbies/interests: Video Games and Ice Hockey

If you were an animal, which animal would you be and why?

Has to be a shark, the ocean is a vast place to explore with lots of crazy new things to find. And, sharks never look back since, as we all know, they don’t have necks…and necks are for sheep.

Note from Kristen: Chris - Thank you for offering your expertise to the CA Security Community. The community would not be the same without you!
