Once a month we'll shine our virtual spotlight on one of the CA Service Management community's members. It's just a fun, easy way for us to get to know one another a little bit beyond our work-related interactions here on the site. This month, we're featuring tzadell - Technical Team Manager.

 

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

 

 

Current Gig: Manager of our company's Corporate Service Desk Team, supporting over 58,000 employees world-wide, as well as external distributors connecting to our systems to place orders.

 

 

One word that describes how you work: If I had to pick one word, I guess it would be persistent.

 

 

How do you use CA Communities and any suggestions for others? I use it every day to see what others are posting about, because I learn new things from every post.  And I post questions about things I'm trying to do that I'm struggling to figure out.  I've found it extremely helpful.  People are very willing to help and there are so many knowledgeable community members.  So my suggestion would be to see it as a way of tapping into the collective knowledge of others who are using the same systems you're using.  You can get both help for what you're trying to do, and ideas for how to do things you didn't even know could be done.


Mac or PC? PC at work.  We do have a Mac at home, but it's mostly used by my musician/writer husband in his home office/studio.

Mobile Device? iPhone

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without? Email, Pocket Informant (calendar meetings and to-do list in one screen), iPhone, internet, notepad ++, Facebook to stay in touch with family and friends back home in PA.

 

 

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget? I'm not really much of a gadget-geek.  My favorite gadgets are mostly on my phone!

 

What’s your daily work space like? My office is in a corner of our Corporate Data Center, where my team is.  I have a laptop, external monitor, and tons of papers and project folders all over my desk all day long that get stacked in a pile and put in a drawer when I leave.  

How do you balance life/work? Very poorly!  I have a wonderful husband that does a great job of taking care of things at home, while I'm working way too many long hours.  I do try to spend quality time with family on the weekends, as well as sleeping in and I guess that has kept me (somewhat) sane so far.

 

 

Best advice you can give and you have received? My favorite quotes: 

"You can't go back and start a new beginning, but you can start today to make a new ending."

"What I am doing today is important -- Because I am exchanging one day of my life for it."


What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? Like many others have said, I'm not better than anyone else at anything.  But I would say I'm pretty good at being organized, documenting, proof-reading and just getting things done.
