We are pleased to announce the General Availability of CA Test Data Manager 4.1. New version can be downloaded from CA Support site.

What’s New in CA TDM?

New – Test Data Find & Reserve APIs  – Ability to find and reserve data that meets specific criteria is an important capability of CA TDM. Starting 4.1 release, this capability can be accessed via REST based APIs to enable easier integration with DevOps and Test Automation tool chains. New set of APIs not only allow you to consume Test Data Find and Reserve services but also allow you to programmatically manage the full lifecycle of those services. These APIs also expose new powerful Test Data Model creation process that encapsulates, automated creation and management of Test Datamarts which help simplify management and maintenance of Test Data Services, hence makes Test Data Engineer deliver more services in less time. New – Simplified Test Data Find & Reserve (preview only) – New Web based Test Data find and reserve user interface lets you manage full lifecycle of Test Data find and reserve services from web based portal. It enables creation of Test Data Model as shown below

which encapsulate automated creation and management of Test Datamarts. It also links Test Data model with Testing environments and allows exposing the Find and Reserve Test Data OnDemand Services without the need of an ArD flow.

Testers will be able to access more dynamic form to explore the Test data before making reservations as shown below

Here is a quick video that demonstrates this new capability.

New – Ease of working with source and target – Now 4.1 allows setting source and target profiles so that from within publishes those source and targets can be accessed via S and T aliases. As shown below

This simplifies the process of calling multiple publishes within one session without the need of keep passing source and target information again and again.

New –  Maintainable and Reusable Content using Macros – CA TDM 4.1 allows Test Data Engineers to create global library of their own data generation functions which can be used across multiple TDM projects via new global Marco definition capability. Here is an example of SSN generator macro that takes separator as input and generates SSN based on the passed value to separator.

When used in the data painter with "-" it will result in SSN having – as separator as shown below.

New –  Enhanced Mainframe based copy book file modeling using new File Definition manager CA TDM includes a new and improved Copy book definition parsing engine that reduces the need to manually edit Copy book definition before processing.

There are many more new capabilities that you can find more details here.
