IM Community update

November 2014

This is the November 2014 IM Community update. These updates include a summary of the topics we discuss during our monthly board meetings which takes place every 2nd Wednesday of the month with the Product Managers for the IM products and other CA employees relevant for our community.  You can find all the board members listed on the page More about the IM Community Board Members.

Because of CA World ’14, we did not have a regular board meeting this month. We did have a chance to meet in person with many of the people we interact with on a regular basis both within and outside CA. We also had an open session at CA World which was much like our usual monthly board meetings. More about that below under IM product vision and strategy.

Webcasts

Our webcasts schedule is for every 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Currently planned webcasts are:

  • November 18: CA World recap, IM Product updates
  • December 16
  • January 20
  • February 17
  • March 17
  • April 21
  • May 19
  • June 16

Feel free to contact us if you have a suggestion or request for a topic. We are also always looking for people who are willing to present on how they use the IM products.

CA World ‘14

CA World ’14 clearly had a different setup compared to previous events. There have been many positive as well as negative responses ranging from the best to the worst CA World ever. We will do our own review of the event and provide our feedback to the various people involved in planning the event. Hopefully this will result in a better event for everyone next year. If you have been to CA World this year, we will be happy to hear from you about your experience so we can include this in our evaluation and feedback.

IM product vision and strategy

One of the most successful sessions at CA World ’14 for us as the community board was the session which the off-the-agenda session based on the post from @Stuart Weenig about making decisions for where to go with our IM software implementations. Many of the CA Product Managers where there for an open discussion as well as a large number of community members. For us it was a great opportunity to show how discuss these kind of topics on a monthly basis in our regular board meetings and give the community members a chance to provide their input directly. You can find the original post and Stuart’s summary of the meeting here: Top reasons you have thought about leaving CAPC (to go back to whatever you had)

Technical Events

We are looking into options to organize a more technical event for the IM products sometime next year. Now that CA World is behind us, we will start to look for what we can do when and where. Since CA is also starting to recognize that there is a gap when it comes to technical content for current customers, there are also other initiatives underway within CA to look at possible technical events. We would prefer if CA will organize technical events with input from the community, but we also don’t want to wait too long for the first event so we will keep our own initiative going in the mean time.

If you are interested in a technical event we would greatly appreciate your feedback and suggestions, either by commenting on this post or reaching out directly to one of the community board members (listed here: More about the IM Community Board Members). To get  things started we have set up a poll to see how many community members would be interesting in attending such an event: Would you be interested in a technical IM event?.

Community Surveys

Thanks to everyone who responded to our previous surveys. Your feedback is very valuable to us and helps us a lot in better representing the community.

Because CA currently has several product surveys open, we have decided not to do a community survey at this time.

If you haven’t taken one of our previous surveys yet, they are still available:

Thanks again to everyone for their responses.

If you have feedback or input based on the information shared here, please post to this thread of feel free to contact us directly by private message. You can find all the board members with links to their profiles on the “About Us” page.

Regards,

Michiel Helder
IM Community President
