IM Community update

February 2015

This is the February 2015 IM Community update. These updates include a summary of the topics we discuss during our monthly board meetings which takes place every 2nd Wednesday of the month with the Product Managers for the IM products and other CA employees relevant for our community.  You can find all the board members listed on the page More about the IM Community Board Members.

Webcasts

Our webcasts schedule is for every 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Currently planned webcasts are:

  • February 17: Introducing the New CA Performance Management r2.4  for High-Scale Network Monitoring, Reporting and Predictive Analytics
  • March 17
  • April 21: Spectrum product update (suggested)
  • May 19: eHealth best practices (suggested)
  • June 16

Feel free to contact us if you have a suggestion or request for a topic. We are also always looking for people who are willing to present on how they use the IM products.

Technical Event

CA is currently planning for a technical event for the IM products in EMEA to be held on April 28 and 29 at Ditton Manor, Ditton Park (near the CA Technologies office in the UK).

The IM products which will be covered are:

  • CA Spectrum
  • CA eHealth
  • CA Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM, formerly CA Nimsoft Monitor)
  • CA Performance Management

A “Save the Date” message will be sent out to customers and posted in the (regional and global) communities sometime this week, follow by an official invite before the end of February.

The team at CA is currently working on the logistics (rooms, demo hardware, etc.) and reviewing the input from our community survey to finalize the details of the agenda (topics, common sessions, parallel sessions, etc.). Thanks again to everyone who responded to our survey.

Office Hours

The “Office Hours”, an open Q&A chat session with technical experts, have been running for several months now for the IM Community. The Office Hours for IM are successful and generally have good attendance. They will keep being scheduled on a quarterly basis for NFA, ADA, PM, Spectrum and UIM.

“News You Can Use” newsletter

The “News You Can Use” newsletter series will be changing. Rachel Macik has changed to a different position within CA and will hand over responsibility for the newsletter to Paula Daley. More information can be found here: IM News You Can Use Customer Newsletter is Changing

UIM Community Migration

Next month the UIM community (formerly Nimsoft) will be migrated to the CA Communities platform and integrated into the IM Community. The CA Communities team is currently running the last test and making the final preparation for a successful migration of all user and content. According to the latest numbers this will result in over 2500 new members (“followers” on the CA Communities platform) on the IM Community. This will move the IM Community to the top of the list within CA based on the number of followers, but this should also be seen in the context of the large number of products in our community.

Community Leadership Model

As mentioned last month when we announced Stuart Weenig leaving the IM Community board, we will not be looking for a replacement at the moment because of upcoming changes to the community leadership model. The current schedule is that the implementation of the new model will start around the spring time, with the IM community being one of the pilot communities. Follow J.J. Lovett’s blog post series in the The Water Cooler community for more information. You can find his first post of the series here: Community Update: A Rhyme and a Reason – Taking a Look at Maturity as a Concept in Online Communities

If you have feedback or input based on the information shared here, please post to this thread of feel free to contact us directly by private message. You can find all the board members with links to their profiles on the “About Us” page.

Regards,

Michiel Helder
