Right Type of Content: Blogs

By Chris_Stallone posted Dec 10, 2014 11:52 AM

The CA Communities offers several types of content – enough that it can be overwhelming, at first.  If you feel overwhelmed, feel free to refer to this as a continuation of the cheat sheet we started with Right Type of Content: Discussions. In this post, we will venture when to post a blog.

I have a blog, RescueIdiot.com - dedicated to spreading the word on the importance of animal rescue. Others on the communities team blog as well. LennThompson founded newyorkcorkreport.com –which covers all things wine. kristen.palazzolo blogs on www.tankyougifts.com, which focuses on one of her favorite shows, Shark Tank. Four individuals, four very diverse blogs.

Blogs are not to be underestimated, they are unbelievably vital to businesses today and a huge influence on SEO. In the provided infographic you can see Tumblr, a

microblogging platform and social networking website is the fastest growing social network today.

So what exactly is a blog, and when do you use it?

A great example of blogs on the CA Communities can be found right on the overview page, CA Communities Blog Posts.

If you want to share your experiences, observations, opinions or, thoughts, a blog post is the ideal post to submit. Blogs are unique within the communities, most users can only post them to their personal blogs, not specific communities like with ideas, discussions, etc.

What does that mean? Blog entries only appear on your profile, and only those users who look at your profile, or those following you on the communities will see the blog in their connection stream. Think of it as visiting a blogs website, your profile is the website wherein people can read your blog containing your thoughts and opinions. Starting a personal blog within the communities may net you more followers, people may find your opinions and thoughts to be something they want to continue to read and will follow you to see new blog entries. Blog posts can also further distinguish you as a thought leader in your area, and show other users where your expertise lies.
