Roberta Facebook.jpgRoberta Jones has been with CA for almost 19 years.  Throughout her time at CA, Roberta has worked her way up from Associate Engineer to Principal Support Engineer. Today, Roberta supports CA Endevor in addition to managing a team of 24 engineers from the Framingham office.

madmenmainframe.pngFrom the beginning of her career, Roberta has worked her way through the "mainframe trenches," as she calls it. (Photo to the left is not Robert, but I like to think the beginning of all offices with the mainframe looked like they came from a scene in Mad Men.)

“I was a data entry clerk, tape librarian, computer operator, network control technician, Help Desk, and Technical Support. I was surfing around on the internet for a job and came across a support position at “Computer Associates”, so I applied ... I interviewed on December 23, 1996 and was hired in January. I started in February 1997.”

...and the rest is history (..or HERstory in this case)

Roberta says support has changed completely in the last 19 years.

“There was not a real process and each team did whatever worked for them. We were segregated Mainframe vs Distributed. I like the support of today … we are one team with one common goal!”

She believes that the CA communities is one of the tools that helps CA support be one team. The communities allow engineers to reach out to customers in a way they never have before, and allows customer to reach out to each other to ask questions and get advice.

“Knowledge articles and Tech Tips are [also] awesome for the customer – it allows them to find the answers to their own questions. The articles and tips that get posted also contain information that you cannot find in the documentation”

Roberta says the people are what have kept her at CA for so long. “I truly enjoy working with the people at CA.  Many of them have become like family to me. The other things that keep me at CA are the customers, I honestly have to say that I love making my customer happy. I enjoy helping people, whether it be my engineers or the customer – I will always find the time to help you! One of my favorite quotes is by Albert Schweitzer:

‘Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful’ - Albert Schweitzer

Outside of work Roberta enjoys spending time with her son Matt, who is 22, her husband Tom, and their rescued black lab, Skylar. They all enjoy classic muscle cars and she actually own a 1967 Mustang Fastback, a 1966 Mustang Coupe, and a 1966 Mustang GT coupe!
