What CA Product Community you are most engaged in?

 CA Release Automation

Why do you feel engagement with peers in the Communities is so important?

The reality is that we work in a word where people need to interact to be successful.  No matter how smart you are, you can always learn something from others experiences.  That's why I find the CA communities so powerful - it is filled with people who are willing to share their insights, which strengthens the base of product users, which in turn drives a better product.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

 Notepad++, SnagIt, Google, MS Office

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?

That would be my Kawasaki Vulcan - best way to de-stress after work is to take "the long way home" on 2 wheels!

What’s your daily work space like?

It changes over time - we have traditional cubes as well as open-space "structures" to enable collaboration.  It really depends on what I'm focused on.

How do you balance life/work?

The best way is to enjoy what you do - the reality is that we spend more time with co-workers at work than with family and friends outside work.  If work is fun, then it's really not "work" anymore.

Outside of work what do you enjoy doing?

I ride my motorcycle, play drums, take hikes in the woods, play video games with my kids, and watch movies.  I also like to find things to fix that other people would call a service pro for - gives me a feeling of accomplishment, and generally saves money as well.

I love the basic everyday work related Apps such as; Skype for Business, WebEx, Yammer, Chatter, and many others.

I love my FitBit - if only it would magically make me fit, now that would be amazing!

What CA Product Community you are most engaged in?

CA Agile Central

Why do you feel engagement with peers in the Communities is so important?

While the support teams at CA are great, peers in the community have context that a support engineer may not have when it comes to best practices and specific use cases. Staying engaged gives me access to that expertise and provides the opportunity to share my experiences and give something back.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

For work, Notepad++, Skype and Jing (awesome for making quick, free screencasts). Outside work, my Kindle app, Ride With GPS for cycling, Ski Tracks for snow sports and Wunderlist.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?

My endurance bike almost counts as a gadget, with electronic shifting, GPS and all the bells and whistles ;-)

What’s your daily work space like?

I have a funky office with lots of eclectic artwork and tchotchkes, including autographed pictures of Chuck Norris, Christopher Walken and Leonard Nimoy. I keep an uncluttered desk and couldn't live without at least two monitors- and there's no phone in my office!

How do you balance life/work?

I let them mix freely- I take breaks to work out, ride or socialize while I'm at work and I keep an eye on things (judiciously) via mobile devices when I'm out. My company is very socially responsible so I get the chance to talk about my company and my job quite often when I'm doing volunteer work or fundraising.

Outside of work what do you enjoy doing?

Staying outdoors! Cycling, skiing, paddling, golf... whatever gets me out of my chair. I also love doing volunteer work and that connects easily to my love of bikes through fundraising rides.

What CA Product Community you are most engaged in?

DevTest- CA Test Data Manager and CA Agile Requirements Designer

Why do you feel engagement with peers in the Communities is so important?

I believe that knowledge management and user engagement are a huge part of supporting any product and the communities are a great medium for both.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

Imgur, Quora, How-Stuff-Works, Luminosity, LinkedIn, Audible, and my Podcast app all help me get through the day.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?

I really like just browsing and decompressing at the end of the day with my tablet.

What’s your daily work space like?

My support group all have semi-open cubicles grouped in fours. I like to have a clean and organized desk and I could not live out with a minimum of 2 monitors  .

How do you balance life/work?

Between my work hours of 7am-4pm I am completely focused on work and get a lot done. Once I get home, I am more focused on my family/pets and relaxing. I usually will answer any urgent emails, but I usually handle everything else in the morning. I am at work for 9 hours a day and only awake with my family for 4-5 hours. Since we only get so much time with family a day, I think it's important to not do too much work at home during off hours.

Outside of work what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy catching up on TV, housework, walking/playing with pets, and trying new places to eat.

I love to travel with my family & friends. We bring our 2 dogs, Otis & Stormy when possible.  I enjoy taking pictures of the trip and even better, I love sharing the pictures with family & friends for many years into the future.  Our travels take us to far places sometimes, but even a trip close to home has much to offer, you just need to find those hidden treasures.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

Quicken and my bank/brokerage apps (never want to do home finances manually, again!), Ski Tracks (love the ability to monitor vertical, distances, speeds, routes - especially at unfamiliar ski areas - helpful to better learn the mountains), Waze (great re-routing capabilities including input from other drivers); Skype (use it extensively at work) - but love to shut everything off, leave everything behind, when possible.

What CA Product Community you are most engaged in?

CA Service Management

Why do you feel engagement with peers in the Communities is so important?

It is a great learning opportunity for everyone: myself and my peers.

And a great way to contribute to spread the CA word.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?

WhatsApp - need to have constant communication with my husband and kids, an this works pretty well for me.

Notepad++ is also a must have for me.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?

My car. I drive long 2 hours (each leg) from home to work and back. So it is really a second house for me (women will get this one)!

What’s your daily work space like?

Our CA office recently moved to a new building, with absolutely everything rebuilt, including the furniture. It is now a really awesome place to be at, and my work space currently has only the necessary things, as we don't have much space to put guides and papers. And guess what: we found out we don't need that extra-space!

How do you balance life/work?

Tough one. I'm a mother of 3 kids at ages of 17, 14 and 8.

And I have also my husband. With all four demanding that from me, there is no room for much plans!

What I usually do is try to accommodate each ones needs according to the situation.

But it works pretty well.

Outside of work what do you enjoy doing?

Being with my family is what I like to do most. No matter what we are doing, from simply watching TV to going out on a trip.

Current Gig: DevTest Services Architect

What CA Product Community you are most engaged in?

CA DevTest Service Virtualization & Test Automation

Why do you feel engagement with peers in the Communities is so important?
The Communities are one of the first places I visit when I need to research a capability or technique.  Everyone in the Community is so helpful - primarily because they want you to be successful with the product(s).  Engaging with both peers and newcomers is an excellent way to create and maintain relationships that drive success.

Apps/software/tools you can’t live without?
Waze and Google Maps are important to me because I am in a different city every few weeks.  Various iPhone gaming apps (Candy Crush, Spider Solitaire, etc.) are also useful since I spend a lot of time on planes.

Besides your phone and computer, what's your favorite gadget?
Although not really a gadget, I enjoy getting out for a ride on my Harley Davidson.  It helps to clear my mind after a stressful week.

What’s your daily work space like?
I spend the majority of my time at customer sites so my work space varies from a desk, to a conference room, to a closet in some cases.  I also have a large home office when not traveling.

How do you balance life/work?

This is probably my greatest challenge, and I don’t do as good job of balancing work/life as I should.  When I am at home, I shut down the computer and stay off the email on my phone.  I try to focus as much as possible on my family.

Outside of work what do you enjoy doing?

In addition to riding the motorcycle, I enjoy most outdoor sports related activities.  In particular, I like to travel with my spouse, hunt, fish, and ski (water and snow).
