An Interim enhancement contains new product functionality which is offered in advance of the normal product release cycle. The next complete product release will include all of the functionality of the Interim Enhancement amongst other new functionality.
The first CA Gen Interim Enhancement was known as a Feature Pack, i.e. CA Gen r8 FP1. However, the standard CA Technologies software license contracts do not contain the term Feature Pack hence there was potentially some legal confusion on whether or not a customer would be entitled to a Feature Pack or not as part of his software license contract. The term Interim Enhancement on the other hand is known within the software license contracts and it was decided to use this name going forward.
