CA Gen Studio is evolving to be the new CA Gen Workstation Developer and Construction Toolset. It consists of a set of Eclipse RCP-based model design tools allowing you to build the same enterprise-class business-critical applications as you do today, but now through the proven, contemporary developer interface as offered by Eclipse. It will take several releases to bring CA Gen Studio to a point where the CA Gen Workstation Toolset is today. In the meantime, CA Gen Studio is being delivered with the CA Gen Workstation Toolset so you can use it in conjunction with the CA Gen Workstation Toolset.
The current version of CA Gen Studio mostly provides the infrastructure for these design tools, it offers the common functionality and the plug-in framework for all these future CA Gen development tools.
CA Gen Studio is being extended with CA Gen tools as well as with third party Eclipse based plug-ins. As a customer you yourself can also extend CA Gen Studio with any bespoke productivity enhancer that would help your development teams.
Note: CA Gen Studio Interim Enhancement (IE) plugins, when GA, can have lower version numbers than the equivalent plugins used in that particular IE. So be careful when concluding beta testing of a CA Gen Studio Interim Enhancement.
