Jul 24, 2014 11:05 AM

June 5, 2014 10:16:04 AM from Glenn Weavind to Host (privately): When are you expecting 9.4 to become GA, please?
[Spectrum Team] Early August is what we are tracking for Spectrum 9.4 GA, ofcourse assuming we don’t run into any blocking issues 

June 5, 2014 10:33:29 AM from John Stanton to Host (privately):Is this new Nimsoft integration bi-directional?
[Spectrum Team] With Spectrum 9.4, it is not – only Nimsoft feeding server data into Spectrum. We do have plans to make it bi-directional in the near to medium term future.

June 5, 2014 10:37:51 AM from Jacquie Cowe to All Panelists: are there plans to expand upon the UI in showing status from oneclick? to expand the space?
[Spectrum Team] If the question is related to the Mobile Alarm View, then at this point we haven’t thought about that. But we will add this to our list.

June 5, 2014 10:43:11 AM from Robert Kettles to Host & Presenter: Does the cleared alarm history work at the Universe level as well?
[Spectrum Team] No, it only happens at the individual host model

June 5, 2014 10:47:08 AM from Ankur Arora to All Panelists: In the cleared alarm history tab, is there a severity column to see what was the severity of the alarm that was cleared?
[Spectrum Team] Currently there isn’t, but this is good feedback and we are considering adding it.

June 5, 2014 10:52:39 AM from John O'Mahony to Host & Presenter: Can you say anything on the latest news on 64 bit Spectrum?
[Spectrum Team] As mentioned on Webex, we are working diligently through the feasibility of the solution

June 5, 2014 11:03:34 AM from Harald van Zee to Host (privately): you say it is not possible to have multiple srm servers. why? it is possible. I have many installations with 2 SRM/CABI/Boxi installations.
[Spectrum Team] We say multiple SRMs with one CABI was not possible from a deployment perspective, we will now allow that. So the number of CABI/BOXI servers you need in the environment will go down

June 5, 2014 11:04:06 AM from Amruth Patil to All Panelists: Hi...How about the roadmap for enhancements with CA IM 2.x?
[Spectrum Team] Currently no major enhancements are planned for integration with CA IM 2.x

June 5, 2014 11:11:39 AM from Al Sorrell to Host (privately): What will be update path to 9.4 from 9.2.x? Compatibility with eHealth version ??
[Spectrum Team] 9.4 will be compatible with eHealth 6.3.x & can be upgraded from 9.2.x

June 5, 2014 11:11:54 AM from Ankur Arora to All Panelists: it would be nice to see what was the severity level for cleared alarms
[Spectrum Team] Yes, we have added to our list and considering it.

June 5, 2014 11:24:03 AM from Michael Pasqualone to Host (privately): I wanted to know about the trap tool as well. ;)
[Spectrum Team] This is an internally built tool – and given we don’t have a dedicated team for it, we don’t distribute it.

June 5, 2014 11:24:19 AM from Manglesh Tiwari to Host (privately): will it require to update SD , APM after having spectrum 9.4 or which are supporting to Spectrum 9.3
[Spectrum Team] Spectrum 9.4 will be compatible with APM 9.5 and SD 12.7

-Alexander Maslobojev (email address hidden) - 10:10 AM Q: When do you expect the Cisco VPC will be avaialble ?
[Spectrum Team] It is currently planned with Spectrum 9.5 in 1H 2015. We have earlier planned it for Spectrum 9.4, but the MIBs were not sufficient for us to work through it.

-Alexander Maslobojev (email address hidden) - 10:18 AM Q: Can you show how to set a threshold for a LACP link when f.ex. 2 of 3 links go down ?
[Spectrum Team] We will share a recorded demo for this

-glenn burns (email address hidden) - 10:32 AM Q: who should we direct questions to?
[Spectrum Team] Please feel free to reach out to me: Kiran.Diwakar@ca.com

-Robert Kettles (email address hidden) - 10:45 AM Q: Does the cleared alarm history work at the Universe level as well?
[Spectrum Team] No, it only happens at the individual host model

-Alexander Maslobojev (email address hidden) - 10:50 AM Q: Can i delete only my MIBs or created by any other users ?
[Spectrum Team] Only the custom MIBs can be deleted and it is not user specific. If you have privileges, you can delete MIBs uploaded by other users too.

-David Game (email address hidden) - 10:50 AM Q: Will Delmar be able to correctly show ADSL port speeds (up and down) in the Interfaces tab, and will it render utilization correctly in the Performance Tab of Component Detail rather than have the download showing as 200-300% or higher?
[Spectrum Team] We have a team working on fixing this, we are too close to code freeze for 9.4, so we might not be able to get this in 9.4, but we will have it after 9.4 – this is being worked through.

-Najm Addous (email address hidden) - 10:53 AM Q: Thanks for the presentation , Going forward , which product will be primary vCenter/Vmware monitoring tool ? Nimsoft or VCAIM?
[Spectrum Team] Nimsoft will be the primary virtualization monitoring tool. But we have many VAIM customers and we assure full support for them, though we will not drive major new enhancements.

-Kenneth Gaskins (email address hidden) - 10:56 AM Q: Is there a way for me to view the demo online and get a copy on the powerpoint presentation
[Spectrum Team] The recording will be shared on the community pages

-Alan Renicor (email address hidden) - 11:04 AM Q: is CABI supported on Windows 2012 . I understand spectrum is but it appears CABI isn't .
[Spectrum Team] We confirmed this with the CABI team (as CABI is not a Spectrum component) Officially CABI is not supported on 2012 & CABI 3.3 R2 Build supports Windows server 2012 by applying some work around(after installing CABI 3.3 R2 build you need to install CABI 3.3 SP1/CABI 3.3 SP1 R2 build)

-Thiru Sethuraman (email address hidden) - 11:07 AM Q: how aboout Huawei?
[Spectrum Team] Yes, Huawei devices are planned as well. If there are some specific ones you need urgently, please reach out to support and open and ER and we will line it up

-Al Sorrell (email address hidden) - 11:07 AM Q: What will be the update path (say from 9.2.x) ?
[Spectrum Team] Yes

-Justin Kulikowski (email address hidden) - 11:10 AM Q: NCM scale improvements are coming in 9.4 or 9.5?
[Spectrum Team] They are available in Spectrum 9.4

Q: Will tigher integration with VAIM be included?
[Spectrum Team] Nope, currently no new major features are planned for VAIM integration

-John Stanton (email address hidden) - 11:12 AM Q: 9.4 will support EVPN in DSS installs?
[Spectrum Team] “EVPN” manager is still landscape specific. I apologize, on the call we misunderstood this to be “VPN Manager” which we have updated in 9.4

-Princy Mehta (email address hidden) - 11:12 AM Q: What is the approximate timeframe for the Spectrum 9.4 GA release?
[Spectrum Team] We are looking at early to mid August, assuming we don’t run into blocker issues

-Alexander Maslobojev (email address hidden) - 11:12 AM Q: The VPC feature is available on Cisco side for more than 1 year. In Spectrum we will get with 9.5 probably next year. The monitoring is behind of the technology for more than 2 years ?!
[Spectrum Team] Acknowledged and agreed. The localization project put us on the backfoot from certifications standpoint. But we are working hard and as mentioned planning to deliver over 250 device updates in the next 6 months. We believe we will be able to give a version for testing to you and other customers with VPC soon

-Robert Borowicz (email address hidden) - 11:12 AM Q: Will SOI connectors become fully bi-directional?
[Spectrum Team] Hi Rob. At this point in time, very candidly, this is not planned

-Wayne Burgett (email address hidden) - 11:13 AM Q: how is the integration setup done between NIMSOFT and Spectrum. CLI configuration files, or WEB administration setup.
[Spectrum Team] As shown in the demo, through the OC Web Admin Page

-jomyj jose (email address hidden) - 11:13 AM Q: does spectrum have NCM support for ASA (Cisco FW)?
[Spectrum Team] Currently, this is not planned. But it would be great if you could post an idea and we get a feel for the demand.

-Justin Kulikowski (email address hidden) - 11:14 AM Q: Can you go into a little detail on how the 'reliable physical (re)discovery of device connections' will function? 9.4 or 9.5?
[Spectrum Team] This is with Spectrum 9.4. There is a design change here. Rediscovery after reconfigure option. As part of Interface reconfiguration, if the customers set the ‘rediscovery after reconfigure’ this will kick-off the Autodiscovery once the interface reconfiguration is done. But if there is another discovery running at the same time, the rediscovery action gets ignored because L2 mapping takes a lock on topology workspace. The change to this design makes the rediscoveries gets queued (there is no limit/visibility to this queue) to the Spectrum watch table if it finds the topology is locked.

-Ralf Krebs (email address hidden) - 11:14 AM Q: Are more 9.3 service packs planned?
[Spectrum Team] Yes, we have a 9.3 H02 being considered for the end of the year 2014

-Michael Pasqualone (email address hidden) - 11:14 AM Q: Is "Intelligent" alerting possible where a lower severity alert is triggered if, for example, one link in a port channel is down versus all of them? Or one T1 when you have a few at a particular site?
[Spectrum Team] Yes – this has been introduced with our LACP support

-Al Sorrell (email address hidden) - 11:14 AM Q: What version of eHealth will be supported/required for compatibility with 9.4
[Spectrum Team] 6.3.x

-Michael Pasqualone (email address hidden) - 11:14 AM Q: I have seen this in competing products but not sure how to do it in Spectrum 9.3
[Spectrum Team] we can do this as mentioned in the earlier response

-Wayne Burgett (email address hidden) - 11:15 AM Q: How is the integration setup done between NIMSOFT and Spectrum. CLI configuration or XML files, or WEB administration setup?
[Spectrum Team] As shown in the demo, through the OC Web Admin Page

-Honz Elliott (email address hidden) - 11:16 AM Q: Noticed the Trap Tool during the demo. Wanted to know if it is available to CA customers.
[Spectrum Team] This is an internally built tool – and given we don’t have a dedicated team for it, we don’t distribute it.

-Lesley Pearson (email address hidden) - 11:17 AM Q: What was the timescale/estimated date for release of 9.4. Was it September?
[Spectrum Team] we are tracking early to mid-August, assuming we don’t run into any blocker issues

-Thiru Sethuraman (email address hidden) - 11:18 AM Q: As of in 9.2.2 for Systeedge monitoring of systems.. the Files systems monitoring is shown but not the monitored files system as in case of File system (RFC)
[Spectrum Team] The behavior is the same in 9.4 as well.

-Michael Pasqualone (email address hidden) - 11:19 AM Q: Is it possible to discover ESX hosts / Cisco phones and model them as something other than a RPT_segment or 802.3 fanout? Will additional intelligence be added for these types of endpoints in the future? For ESX it sounds like nimsoft would do it.
[Spectrum Team] Yes for Nimsoft. ESX host is modeled as a ESX host. A fanout is created when Spectrum hears multiple addresses from a single port. An example is VMs being connected to a physical switch via a ESX host interface. In such cases, the VMs are connected to the switch via the Rpt_segment. This behavior will not change in future releases as this is critical to the RCA logic within Spectrum.

-Silvio Okamoto (email address hidden) - 11:19 AM Q: Will be a single-sign on for NimSoft integration?
[Spectrum Team] It is being considered, but not on the roadmap at this point

-Lesley Pearson (email address hidden) - 11:20 AM Q: What was the timescale/estimated date for release of 9.4. Was it September?
[Spectrum Team] It is being planned for early to mid August, assuming we don’t run into blocker issues
[Spectrum Team] It is being planned for early to mid August, assuming we don’t run into blocker issues

-Ajay Sahani (email address hidden) - 11:26 AM Q: I would like to know how we could integrate CA Spectrum with CA Service Operations Insight for smart alert processing and suppression.
[Spectrum Team] We do have an integration with the Spectrum SOI Connector. Please refer documentation or reach out CA Support

-Honz Elliott (email address hidden) - 11:26 AM Q: What are the future plans for TrapExloder?
[Spectrum Team] It is supported, but not enhanced. At this point in time we are considering options for it. Till we announce anything, it will remain a fully supported component

-Alexander Maslobojev (email address hidden) - 11:27 AM Q: I am volontiering for the VPC tests
[Spectrum Team] Thank you sir, got your email! 

-John Stanton (email address hidden) - 11:29 AM Q: Will EVPN work in concert with SDM in 9.4?
[Spectrum Team] No, we do not provide any of our IP Services functionality through SDM

-leonard dwyer (email address hidden) - 11:29 AM Q: Will mobile interface support iphone and android
[Spectrum Team] Yes, we are currently testing Android and while we have the code in place for Iphone, we are working through licensing aspects
