I am attempting to start the AutoStart  service using a member of the Local Administrators user group (who is not the built-in Administrator). This user ID is the only ID defined to the server.  The following message is generated when I try to start the AutoStart service.

"No name yet: (mgr_start_ap,5000,E) LogonUser failure: rc=1326, Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

How do I resolve this error?

The 1326 is a Microsoft return code for “bad credentials”. This error typically indicates that the user account is not valid.  Verify in the Configuration Manager under Expert Interface--> Automation Services Startup options, which option is selected.  If it is set to "Logon using this account ", select "Logon using Local Sytem account".
