What are the primary components of UC Monitor?

There are two primary components of UC Monitor:

·         Collector:  a device that collects performance data from the UC environment and forwards it to the Management Console for reporting/viewing.  In a Cisco environment, when attached to a mirror port or SPAN port, the Collector monitors the switch to which a Cisco CallManager, or cluster of CallManagers, is connected.  In an Avaya environment, the Collector receives RTCP packets from the endpoints/phones and gateways.  In a medianet environment, the Collector receives metrics from medianet-enabled devices via Flexible NetFlow.

·         Management Console:  a device that collects data from the Collectors (Cisco/Avaya) and other devices (e.g., Microsoft OCS/Lync servers, Acme Packet or Sonus session border controllers) at regular intervals, and enables storage, analysis, and reporting on that data.
