Tech Tip:  New CIs is created when the sysname of a Device modeled in Spectrum is changed

Aug 07, 2014 04:59 AM

When the Sysname of a Switch Device which is modeled in Spectrum is changed and the existing SOI CI for this model is already part of a Service, a new CI will be created with the new Sysname as Label.

This is how the USM Schema works. For a switch SysName is the highest correlatable key. Two switches with different SysName (or PrimaryDnsName if SysName is not published) cannot correlate and a new notebook will be created.

So before the Sysname is changed, remove the Model from Spectrum so that the CI is removed from SOI. Remove the CI from the Service in SOI. Rediscovery the Switch in Spectrum after the Sysname has been changed and it will be published with the new

Sysname into SOI.
