For installations where Spectrum is integrated with CA Performance Center, you can drive a controlled device discovery in CA Performance Management through the Spectrum global collections mechanism.  This will avoid discovery attempts on non-matching SNMP community strings.  After adding devices to a Global Collection, this process, and the accompanying scripts will:

  • Create SNMP profiles based on the community strings
  • Create dedicated discovery profiles.

Software Requirements:

  • CA Performance Management v2.3.3 or later
  • CA Spectrum v9.3 or later

Download and unzip CAPMandSpectrum.zip, and open README.txt and SpectrumCAPCDisc.pdf for instructions and a description of the approach.
