The attached package provides a method to integrate Nimsoft Monitor into Service Operations Insight, based on the Generic SNMP Connector.

The policy for the connector, which is part of this package, is written to perform two functions:

  • The initial load of CIs and Alerts into SOI is performed by running a Perl script which is sending Traps to the SNMP Connector; out of these Traps the CIs are created in SOI (currently 15 different CI-classes are supported).
  • The Nimsoft SNMP Gateway Probe is then used to forward Nimsoft alarms to SOI.  These traps are also handled by the SNMP Connector.

All components of the package (policy, script) are fully configurable to allow for adoptions and extensions.

The basic difference of this integration compared to the available Catalyst Connector for Nimsoft is, that also granular CIs (such as disk, process, CPU, database) are created as child objects of the devices and Alerts are attached to these objects to allow for granular Service modeling in SOI.

The package was tested with the following SW levels:

  • SOI 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3
  • Nimsoft Monitor 6 and 7, and CA Unified Infrastructure Management (UIM) 8
  • MS SQL and Oracle Databases for Nimsoft Monitor

Please refer to the Connector Guide included in the package for further details.
