CA VI install creates many scheduled processes in crontab. These all run as the "vdc" user

 

This is what they do... (taken from a 4.8 install)

 

 

1) Index collects, which collects search keywords on devices and its attributes for quick search.

2) Index builder, which builds out index based out search keywords

 

*0,15,30,45 * * * * /opt/VDC/ibuilder/bin/ib -D*

 

3) Notification enginer refresher

 

*0 9 * * * /opt/VDC/monitor/bin/servicectl start*

 

4) Database jobs runs every 5 minute to refersh the cache

 

*5,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * /opt/VDC/jdk/bin/java -jar -DINDEX_HOME=/opt/VDC/db/bin /opt/VDC/db/bin/DBJobs.jar  5min.dbjobs.properties*

5) Database jobs runs every minute to propagate port changes

6) Database jobs runs every 30 minute to compute location-wide energy consumption changes

7) Database jobs runs every hour to update thermal replay info

8) Database jobs runs every day to update daily energy usage info

9) Plot scalar trend charts

10) Plot tabular trend charts

11) Use vdcmon to exam the system health

12) Generate reports

13) Purge obsoleted data monitor data

14) Clean BMS specific data
