RA 9.0 Pump Service out of memory
Document ID:
TEC1949926
Product:
Reporter/Analyzer 9.0
Issue:
New Routers are not being discovered in RA 9.0. The Task Manager on the RA Master Console shows that the NetQoS.ReporterAnalyzer.PumpService.exe process is using an excessive amount of memory. The \reporter\logs\pumplog*.log file shows errors similar to the following:
22:34:51 2 - Polling - :
Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
Resolution:
This can occur if a Netflow configuration problem on a small number of routers is causing a large number of false interfaces to be created in the reporter.interfaces database table on the Master Console machine. When this problem occurs, the false interfaces will often not show up at all in tools such as "SupportCIG".
To help determine whether this is happening, log on to the RA Web GUI and go to the "Administration" tab.
Select "Enable Interfaces" to bring up the "Available Interfaces" page.
On this page, click in the "
Total Int
" column to sort the routers by the number of interfaces on each router.
If there are any routers listed with an unrealistically high number (e.g. millions) of interfaces, there is most likely a Netflow configuration problem on that router that is causing the pump service to run out of memory.
If possible, this router should be deleted from RA and its Netflow to the Harvester disabled until the Netflow configuration can be corrected.
Deleting the router will also permanently delete any existing historical data from that router, so if there are any questions please contact CA Support for further assistance.
