Sometimes when a device is added it ends up in the \All Groups\System Groups\Data Sources\NetVoyant@xxxx\Devices\Other group.

This happens because NetVoyant places all devices that it does not recognize into the Other class.

There are two things which determine device identification for being added to a system group, Class and Model.

The default device classes are:

Other

Routers

Hubs

Probes

Servers

Workstations

Printers

Switches

Network Termination

Firewalls

New classes can be added at the Console > Config > Discovery > Device Classes > Add and enter the name.

New models are added under Device Models and are based on the device sysObjectID.

First the new class is created and then when creating the new model the class is specified.

With the next discovery the devices will be moved from the Other class to the new one.

As Stu points out the sysObjectID is available at the NV console under the Details tab.
