Release Automation KB: Google Chrome Doesn't Recognize Java

Apr 20, 2015 09:47 AM

A statement released by Java confirm that as of Google Chrome version 42 (released April 2015), Chrome has disabled the standard way in which browsers support plugins.

This causes problems when using RA as it depends on Java being identified.

Consequently, the RA landing page will request the user to install JRE even if it is already installed.

We are working to resolve this new compatibility issue.

In the meantime, this is the workaround as confirmed by Java:

Enabling NPAPI in Chrome Version 42 and later

  1. In your URL bar, enter:
    chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
  2. Click the Enable link for the Enable NPAPI configuration option.
  3. Click the Relaunch button that now appears at the bottom of the configuration page.
