Here is some info on SSG monitoring that I have collected ... its common question, I figured it might help ..
- There are two types of SNMP monitoring that we support: Appliance monitoring through the standard SNMP MIBS (available in /usr/share/snmp/mibs) and Gateway service monitoring through a customized SNMP implementation authored by our engineering team.
- We recommend that customers use protocols such as SNMP to limit the open vectors on the gateway and ensuring that upgrades won't break the monitoring functionality.
- There is no internal monitoring of the Gateway resources such as CPU or RAM. You can enable external monitoring of these properties through SNMP but the Gateway does not provide any intrinsic capabilities to monitor resource usage; Enterprise Service Manager is capable of reporting system resource utilization to an administrator monitoring ESM but that is a separate licensed product.
