Kristen Malzone (CA) :Our product experts are standing by to answer your questions!

Kristen Malzone (CA) :Welcome, Tim! Thanks for joining. Got a question for the PIM team?

Tim Shambrey :Not at is time -

Kristen Malzone (CA) :Hi Badal! Thanks for joining!

Tim Shambrey :Not at this time - thank you

Badal Bhushan :Thanks Kristene...I dont have a question at this time

Kristen Malzone (CA) :If you're not already following the CA Security Community, please join! We have lots of great information there for CA PIM customers: https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-security

Peter Ifurung :So - let me ask the question .... how many of our clients are interested in the Proxy Server and new recorded session facility within R12.9.  Are any of you looking at performing an upgrade/migration to the new R12.9 solution infrastructure?

Kristen Malzone (CA) :Great question! And if you have any questions about CA Privileged Identity Manager, we have representatives  Support, Services, Engineering, Sales, and Product Management standing by the answer any question!

Tim Shambrey :We are rolling out new implementation of controlminder so which ever best - proxy or client software

Binish Baby :We currently have ENTM 12.8 and not have started using much with it, we were waiting for our endpoints to complete with 12.8. Do we need to consider upgrading ENTM to 12.9, Is it just a small change in 12.9 or is it a change with lot of bug fixes and more functionality with 12.9?

Adam Roll :Tim - Is your rollout focused primarily with the SAM component or both SAM and Fine-grained controls in the future?

Kristen Malzone (CA) :@Binish - We did a Community Webcast last month on 12.9. You can watch the replay here: https://communities.ca.com/videos/2532

Binish Baby :@Kristen- thanks I will have a look.

Kristen Malzone (CA) :@Binish - If you want to take a quick look at the slides, those are found here: https://communities.ca.com/docs/DOC-231155364

Binish Baby :@Kristen- thanks.

Binish Baby :Can i say something about 12.8 endpoints?

Kristen Malzone (CA) :Sure!

Binish Baby :I dont feel like CA has done good with testing on their new endpoint releases. Most of the support tickets I opened with CA turns to be a bug with the product. Its for ControlMinder and UNAB too.. Its a lot of pain to fix on 1000+ endpoints when its found to be a bug..

Shahn Soomro (CA) :@Binish.. sorry to hear you had some issues with 12.8x endpoints. you raise valid points about managing a large environment. You comments/conerns are noted and passed to Product Mangement. We continue to work workinng on improving solution managability. We would love to hear specific suggestion  you and any other customers..

Binish Baby :@Shahn: Thank you for taking this to the CA management..

Shahn Soomro (CA) :@Binish..thanks for the comments, this is one of our key goals  the office hours to hear directly  you..good, bad and ugly hopefully this will lead to product improvements and customer satisfaction

Tim Shambrey :What are some the notable enhancements in the new release (in terms of UNAB)

Kristen Malzone (CA) :15 minutes left! Get your final questions in now!

Warren Miller (CA) :@Binish - 12.9 is only a server component release.  It is backward compatible with 12.8 Fine-Grained Access Control and UNAB endpoints.  Most of the new features are with the Shared Account Management feature of the product.  A marquee feature is the proxy server that allows customers to start privileged account sessions to Windows Agentless and SSH Device endpoint types without requiring applications like puTTY to be installed on the desktop.  This feature can completely hide the password  the user.  The 12.9 server components are available for the Linux platform.

Henry Vo :@Binish -- which version you are currently using and having the problem Binish ?

Henry Vo :never mind, i see the version you have which is 12.8

Henry Vo :so with the new release, 12.9, CA - do you think you could get all the bugs fixed  12.8 ?

Henry Vo :If possible, I'd like to see CA gives us a KT on how to upgrade 12.8 to 12.9 and/or doing a new installation  start to end on Unix/Linux ( Physical/VM )

Adam Roll :@Tim - As relates to 12.9, this was server component release only, not endpoint components. In the latest SP release for Endpoint on 12.8 there were enhancements around the registration, memory handling, process handling. I can follow up with you post office hours with a listing of enhancements  the Wiki page

Reatesh Sanghi (CA) :@Tim, we only have the optin to migrate  R12.8 to R12.9, we are not certifying the upgrade

Shahn Soomro (CA) :BTW, CA PIM docs are available online via CA WIKI (https://wiki.ca.com/display/CMINDER129/CA+Privileged+Identity+Manager+Home), you all should have access to it, if you want to look up the release information/new features etc.

Kristen Malzone (CA) :Thanks for sharing that video, Mohammed

Tim Shambrey :But if we're doing a fresh install - we go directly to 12.9 correct

Reatesh Sanghi (CA) :Correct @ Tim

Reatesh Sanghi (CA) :R12.9 is only certified for REHL 6.5 and RHEL 6.4 - 64 bit OS

Tim Shambrey :Have you seen it work on either AIX or Solaris

Henry Vo :@ Reatesh - I guess this new version will not work on Sun Solaris and IBM - AIX

Tim Shambrey :So if I have AIX and Solaris in my environment it's best to just go with 12.8

Warren Miller (CA) :But 12.9 only provides server components.  Use 12.8 endpoints (Fine-Grained Access Control and UNAB) with 12.9 server components.

Henry Vo :or 12.7 ?

Kristen Malzone (CA) :That's all the time we have for today! The next CA PIM Office Hours will be Tuesday, August 11th at 11am EDT. RSVP here: https://communities.ca.com/events/2141

Kristen Malzone (CA) :We'll finish answering any remaining questions out there.

Renato Pioker (CA) :@Henry - you can go to a pure 12.8 environment, or a mixed 12.9 server + 12.8 endpoints, no problem.

Kristen Malzone (CA) :And, we'll post the chat transcript  today's Office Hours to the Security Community: https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-security

Henry Vo :@ Renato - Thanks for the info.

Renato Pioker (CA) :@Henry - It is our pleasure!

Reatesh Sanghi (CA) :Bye

Henry Vo :Bye

Renato Pioker (CA) :Goodbye everybody!

Kristen Malzone (CA) :@Henry - We'll follow up on this via email

Kristen Malzone (CA) :Thanks for joining everybody!

Kristen Malzone (CA) :See you next month!
