Michael :

Hello everybody,

Michael :

are there any news on 7.2 bugfix release/cum ptf?

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Michael Thanks for joining us this morning. Is your question about Plex or 2E? This is a 2E session, but maybe the team can answer either way.

Michael :

It is about Plex :-)

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Barbara Good morning and thank you for joining us. Do you have a question for the 2E team?

Barbara Straus :

This is my first time in this meeting.  I was just interested to see what it was all about.

Daniel Short :

@Michael: We're anticipating the 7.2 cumulative PTF to be available sometime in October.

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Barbara Well thanks for checking it out! It's pretty simple -- customers ask questions and we get our team of product experts here to answer them. If you have any questions, we're here for you!

Michael :

great news - in my calendar the meeting poped up as CA Plex/2E Office Hours - I will ask my colleagues for 2E questions

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Michael We alternate months between the two products. 2E this time, but we'll do Plex next month.

Barbara Straus :

  1. I posed a question in the community but let's see what you come up with.  I have a screen that scans barcodes and then uses the check(ER).  I need to keep the barcode field input capable but have the cursor move to the next input capable field.  I can't figure out how to do this.

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Barbara We saw that -- and Steve gave you one way to address it, if I remember correctly. Did that work for you, or no?

Barbara Straus :

It was suggested to change the field to output and then the cursor will go to the next input capable field but that doesn't meet the needs of the user.  They want to be able to change/delete the barcode later.

Barbara Straus :

My issue is that this is an existing screen that was created with EDTFIL.

Barbara Straus :

I'm pretty sure I know how I would do it if I was creating the screen  scratch.  I think I would use a prompt and validate screen but I'd rather not rewrite this if possible.

Steve Dunk :

@Barbara Can you raise a case please and write that you have talked to me (Steve Dunk) and I should look at it to see it there is a better solution than the one I suggested

Barbara Straus :

Originally the screen was created with only the add mode.  I changed it to use the change/delete mode too but that poses other issues.

Barbara Straus :

Is there any attachments you'd like me to add?  A screenshot?

Steve Dunk :

@Barbara Yes please all the normal details you would supply for a case. Any screen shots please put them in a Word document. Also a YDOCMDLFUN etc.

Barbara Straus :

Sorry, what is a YDOCMDLFUN?

Steve Dunk :

@Barbara It's the standard way to document a function. The prompt for it is available when you exit a function and tick print

Barbara Straus :

Oh, ok.

Steve Dunk :

@Barbara And it's a standalone command that you can call  a command line

Barbara Straus :

I got it.  I used all the defaults.  I'll create a case and attach it.

Steve Dunk :

@Barbara Thanks I will look out for it. It might be better in the long run to do this a different way that gives you more flexibility as Yorkshireman proposed

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Michael @Barbara Do you have any other questions for the team?

Barbara Straus :

I guess that's it for me. Thanks.

Barbara Straus :

Can I save the chat?

Lenn Thompson - CA :

@Barbara We'll be posting the transcript in the community later today.

Barbara Straus :

I figured it out right after I asked.
