Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@John Good morning! Thanks for joining us. What questions do you have for our CA7 team?

John Costello :

Nothing specific unfortunatley.  I wanted to see what the Office Hours was all about and see if I could help answer any questions

Pavel :

good morning

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@John Okay, great. Thanks for joining us then. Not sure how many customers we'll get in this first session of the new year, but I appreciate you coming!

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@John I'd also invite you to take part in our CA 7 product survey, which will provide product feedbcak directly to not only the product management team, but also executive management. The URL is https://survey.medallia.com/?product-communities&product=CA%20Workload%20Automation%20CA%207%20Edition

John Costello :

I will - thank you. This is my first Office visit with CA, although I have been working with your product for several years

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@John We're glad to have you!

Pavel :

is WAAE covered here?

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@Pavel This is the CA7 session. We'll focus on AE next month.

Pavel :

  1. cool.

John Costello :

I apologize for not having any questions prepared for you and your team today.  Is there anything new that we should be aware of

Marysue Redd :

@John  Have you checked out the new release of CA 7--r12.0?

John Costello :

no I haven't - We use Workload Automation ESP Edition.   Are the two products very different in nature?

Marysue Redd :

@John  The products are very different in many ways, but both are scheduling products

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@John I'll let the team answer that question, but I'll invite you to the ESP office hours on February 25 https://communities.ca.com/events/2496

John Costello :

Thanks Lenn - I tagged that date on my calendar.  I will make sure I have a question or two ready.

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@John Great. Will be great to have you there!

John Costello :

until then, have a great day

Dave :

Will Event Management still be supported?

renate edwards :

is it over?

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@Renate Nope! Do you have some questions for the team?

renate edwards :

not so much.   (I had problems with webex).

renate edwards :

we are working on the installation on Ca7 r12

renate edwards :

We had problems with our database but Marysue helped us get that all fixed.   Is there anything I can do in our present CA7 to make it cleaner for the move?

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@Renate Have you seen the CA 7 product survey announcement? I'm sure the product and executive management teams would love your feedback: https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-workload-automation/blog/2015/12/15/tell-us-what-you-think-about-ca-workload-automation-ca-7-edition

renate edwards :

I just finished it this morning.   I had gotten the first invite but whatever the url was our firewall wouldn't let me do it but when I got the invite yesterday or today it let me in that way

Roderick Woods :

@dave    what event management compoenent are you using with CA 7?

Marysue Redd :

@Renate    HI!  The most important is that the 11.3 database be clean and I think we got that...you've been testing r12, correct?

renate edwards :

They didn't have any questions about the communities though

Marysue Redd :

@Renate   I saw that (your post)...maybe just because it is right after the holidays and first of year--people want a little 'breathing' time before they jump into new projects?  IDK

renate edwards :

yes we have r12 up and I've been going through the screens.  We haven't tried to run a batch yet because we have to work with another team to make sure we can run a batch through our test system

Marysue Redd :

@Renate   Be sure to check for maintenance to r12 frequently...have had some fixes lately and I know SE is working on at least one HYPER for r12...so check out what is available, for sure.

renate edwards :

  1. no answers *g   My boss wants me to write up my responsibilities and job title becaue ours is ANTIQUATED

renate edwards :

I will tell Rena.  She is doing the system part of the install and I'm doing the checking part in CA7

Marysue Redd :

@Renate   I think you should have a really impressive title :-)

renate edwards :

@marysue    *g  thanks

renate edwards :

I haven't seen much on the communities about others working on R12.  Are there a lot that are or are we the first wave

renate edwards :

oh and @Rodney... thanks for your help last year and you too @Marysue.

Roderick Woods :

@renate     sure... I always happy to assist you

Marysue Redd :

@Renate   You are very welcome..we REALLY appreciate your involvement. Can't make the product better without input and your's is highly valued

Roderick Woods :

@Renate  thanks for the great comments.. please say more :-)

renate edwards :

  1. I wanted to come to the last world but it just wasn't possible.

Roderick Woods :

@Renate ... of course and I am kidding.. but thanks!!1

renate edwards :

@Rodney   I knew..  You have a very healthy attitude and I wouldn't have it any other way.

renate edwards :

I'm pretty outspoken... if I had problems "YOU" would know.   *giggle

renate edwards :

I do have a question... is it important to delete unused datasets  ca7?

Marysue Redd :

@Renate  not terribly important to how 7 runs, but to reclaim space in the SASDS and IDS it could be important

Marysue Redd :

@Renate  and the database conversion to r12 could be faster if fewer entities

renate edwards :

  • ok..  we have a "butt' load of them.   Everytime a new release comes out they change the dataset names.  The release is part of the name

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

Looks like we have about 5 minutes left in today's session. Any other questions, Renate?

renate edwards :

  1. no...  I'm sorry more people didn't show up.

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@Renate Oh that's okay. First one of the year is always iffy. I appreciate you joining us. I hope you find it helpful when you can make it1

renate edwards :

I do...   I try to make all of them (in workload automation) just for support.. but unless I'm sick I will always be here for CA7

Lenn Thompson (CA) :

@Renate Thanks!
