Tech Tip from Karina Pulinx , Principal Support Engineer, for January 20,2016  .

If you are running CA DATACOM version 12.0  in a z/VSE environment and you are using DFSORT/VSE
from IBM as SORT package then make sure to apply RO87588

https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/solncdndtls?aparNo=RO87588&os=DOS&fc=1&actionID=3

A CA Datacom 12.0 DBUTLTY sorted LOAD or RETIX  with a SORT= value greater than 1  fails with messages

ILU102A B0 FIELD VALUE EXCEEDS MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE CHARACTERS - SORT

ILU125I B2 SIZE OPERAND IGNORED

when RO87588 has not been MSHP applied .

Note that 12.0 DBUTLTY passes the SORT value to the SORT package now and there is no problem when using CA SORT  which can handle a  11-digits SORT  value  .
