Remote Control - Mouse moments erratic when using VMware View Agent 5.1+

Jan 26, 2016 10:14 AM

Problem:

When using Remote Control to a VDI system running VMware View release 5.1 and above, where the user is connected using the PCOIP protocol, then the mouse movements are so erratic in the RC Viewer as to make it unusable.

Cause:

Changes made in View 5.1 to improve performance for PCOIP sessions.

Solution:

Apply the following registry change in your VDI Golden image.

To disable cursor jumping:

Note: This procedure modifies the Windows registry. Before making any registry modifications, ensure that you have a current and valid backup of the registry and the virtual machine. For more information on backing up and restoring the registry, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 136393.

  1. In the View desktop or Golden Image, click Start > Run, type regedit, and click OK. The Registry Editor window opens.
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Teradici\PCoIP\pcoip_admin_defaults.
  3. Set pcoip.disable_cursor_jumping to 1.

Note: If the value does not exist, right click and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value and create the pcoip.disable_cursor_jumping value and set to 1.
