Introduction:

This article talks about accessing workstation from user machines.

Question:

I have a fresh installation of workstation client on my user box. When trying to access workstation, it brings up the login screen and authenticates successfully.

But after that, it fails to launch the GUI and nothing happens. There are no errors in logs. I have the same problem using the workstation webstart. How do I resolve this?

Environment:

APM EM & Workstation version 10.1

Answer:

Check if the ws-plugins has all the out of the box files and folders. Usually this folder out of the box has 31 jar files and a folder with sub-folders and files under them.

It is noticed that if this  <EM-HOME>/ws-plugins folder is missing several key workstation .jar files, then the workstation fails to launch the GUI.

Reinstalling the workstation and/or copying the missing files from another similar working 10.1 server with all the needed files and folders, then restarting the EM, resolves the issue.
