Introduction:

Some customers may wish to install Spectrum on non Redhat variants of Linux. This tech doc details what support there is offered when installing on non Redhat Linux systems.

Questions:

What support is there for installing and running Spectrum on non Redhat Linux systems such as SUSE or CentOS?

Environment:

Linux

Answer:

Support for installing and running Spectrum on non Redhat variants such as SUSE or CentOS fall under the guidelines laid out in the Spectrum Linux variant policy.

Please make sure to read the policy in full at the below link but some of the main considerations should be that:

Non Redhat versions of Linux are supported as per the statement but have not all been tested in QA.

We will endeavor to support non Redhat variants of Linux so long as it a current GA version or prior.

As non Redhat variants of Linux have not all been tested during QA we cannot comment on specific versions of eg SUSE or CentOS as to whether they will definitely function as Redhat Linux with Spectrum.

Any issues raised with support that are identified as being due to the use of a non Redhat variant of Linux, may require the installation and running on Redhat Linux and the problem reproduced on Redhat Linux.
