During a CA Software Asset Manager upgrade from 3.x to 4.x, you may encounter this error on the install_db step:

This extension requires the Microsoft ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server. Access the following URL to download the ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server for x86: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=163712 #2: SQLSTATE: IM002; code: 0; message: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified Layer message is: connect(SAMUser, , $Password) failed.
SOLUTION:
Download and install the appropriate bit level of the 'Microsoft ODBC driver 11' that corresponds to your SQL Server version and architecture (x86 or x64). Drivers can be found at: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj730314(v=sql.1).aspx
Note: The x86 version of this ODBC driver will not install onto Windows 2008 64-bit. Use the x64 bit version instead.
If the 'Microsoft ODBC driver 13' is installed, then uninstall it from control panel, prior to installing the 'Microsoft ODBC driver 11'.
