Office Hours CA Performance Management - May 23, 2017

Jun 01, 2017 03:47 PM

Below is the transcript from the office hours session help on May 23rd.

Steven Guthrie to everyone: Did you folks get the End-Of-Life announcement for CA eHealth or see it on the Support site?

from bal bansal to everyone: i have made a new IPSLA cert from an existing certification and amended the "name" that is used in CAPM so it now picks up the TAG of the IPSLA test - which works - but the alias is now blank... where do I make the change for the alias? cannot see it in the cert xml??

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Bal - The alias is set through PC, not through the cert from Chazz Kellner to everyone: I'll get the links to the doc

from Neville Styles to everyone: We're starting to plan our migration from eHealth to PM, and we see we need to run RHEL 6.x (up to 6.8).  Is there a technical reason why RHEL 7.x isn't supported, or has it just not been tested?  And what are the thoughts about running it on Centos 7.x?

from bal bansal to everyone: but by default, the alias is set to the same as name - out of the box??

from Manish Parikh to everyone:  Are there plans to integrate CA APM with CA PC/PM

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Bal no, by default, the alias is blank, but the field shows the name in PC if there is no alias

from Manish Parikh to everyone: I came across a customer of CA during CA World '16 who is currently working with CA on integrating APM with CA PM/PC from bal bansal to everyone: right as there is no alias for my element should it not show the name? from bal bansal to everyone: rather than blank?

from Michael Poller to everyone:@Manish, exactly what are you asking about re: integrating the two products? We do already leverage APM a good deal for analyzing application performance from CAPM.

from Don Gray to everyone: There were some issue with Vertica in early versions of  7. We are expecting to support Centos 7 and Linux 7 in a future release.

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: Ah - Centos 7 from Mike Bryanton to everyone: do you have an expected date for that?

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: we need it to work on Centos 7

from Manish Parikh to everyone: I am talking about CAPC being the presentation layer of APM - Dashboards, alerts etc...

from Neville Styles to everyone: @Don thanks.  As we're not using PM yet, please could you let us know what Vertica is?

from Manish Parikh to everyone: currently we have customers who have to login to CAPC and APM to view their infra monitoring and app monitoring respectively on two separate tools

from Aravind Sugur to everyone: @Neville Vertica is the database where we are storing the performance related data

from Neville Styles to everyone: @Aravind, thanks   from Neville Styles to everyone: @Don, @Aravind, what are the timescales for supporting Centos 7?

from Don Gray to everyone: Centos fall under out virtualization policy but is not specifically tested. I know we are looking to support Linux 7 in the next release but it has not been finalized. So we have no specific date.

from Manish Parikh to everyone: @Michael - ADA data is sent to CAPC and CAPM data is portrayed in CAPC but APM is not

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: @Don thanks - it likely to be in the next 6 months - it's been out for ages

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Bal: here's the method to set multiple alias

https://docops.ca.com/display/CAPM310/Set+Alias+Names+For+Multiple+Monitored+Devices

from Manish Parikh to everyone: @Michael - is it possible for CAPC is show all APM data from a dashboard/alerts/reporting perspective? from Don Gray to everyone: @Mike I would expect that it will.  from Mike Bryanton to everyone: @Don - great, thank you

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Bal and here's the Web service to set the alias https://docops.ca.com/display/CAPM310/Set+the+Alias+Name+for+a+Device+Example

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Manish, unfortunately at the moment we only can see APM data about PC in APM views. No way to see current APM data in CAPM reports.

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: How much of a gap is there between the reports Ehealth will do and the reports that can be done in PM please? We use a lot of top-n reports  - also, is all the functionality of live health there?

from Steven Guthrie to everyone: @Manish - Good to see you here...  we do have a plan for a SPOG.  In June, we will deliver Digital Experience Insights, our new SaaS-based analytics solution that correlates end-user, application and infrastructure monitoring

from Manish Parikh to everyone:  @Steven - good to see man. Hope all is well. Can you please keep me in the loop for SPOG as I'd like to learn more about it and leverage that against our current setup?

from Steven Guthrie to everyone:  @Manish and all - We will discuss the new platform during the upcoming IT Ops Analytics Virtual Summit occurring on Tuesday, June 13th - more info and register here: http://www.itoa2summit.com/

from Neville Styles to everyone: Are you able to confirm if PM has EEMSiteMinder support?  If so what version of EEM/SiteMinder are required for the latest version of PM?

from Manish Parikh to everyone: @Steven Thanks for the link.  I know we won't be interested in a SaaS solution at all (corp culture)

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Neville, we do support integration with Siteminder. Release compatibility coming in a moment.

from Steven Guthrie to everyone: @Manish - an on-prem version is planned (SaaS-first)

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Neville, most current versions of Siteminder that support SAML 2.0 work with PM for SSO.

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Neville, here are the latest r3.1 configuration docs.

https://docops.ca.com/ca-performance-management/3-1/en/administrating/single-sign-on/set-upsaml-2-0-support  from Neville Styles to everyone: Thanks @Michael from Manish Parikh to everyone: @Steven - I've registered for the Summit.

from François Cattoen to everyone: @Mike, CA PM 3.1 brings new report capabilities leveraging CA Business Intelligence  jasperSoft. this version provides Top-N report highly configurable (Time Interval: hour/day/week/30 days), Group Name (device type), Metrics and then you can pick up to 4 variables

(availability,  bits in, out...).   from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Mike, for EHealth, what functionality are you looking for?

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: @Francios, thank you - I'm worried we'll be losing some functionality - should I stop worrying?

from François Cattoen to everyone: Mike - yes you should. we will be closing the gaps release after release.

from Neville Styles to everyone: @François If some reports are only available through JasperSoft (I assume that's the implication of your statement?), are ALL reports available through JasperSoft?  We don't want to start directing users to different applications to run different reports.  And does JasperSoft support SiteMinder integration?

from Steven Guthrie to everyone: @Mike - I'd suggest you get with Devo team and ask to include Glenn Weavind from our UK presales team to discuss  from Mike Bryanton to everyone:  @Steven - we are, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask here

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Neville, once logged into CAPM UI there is no additional log in to Jasper Reports. You get in from the PM UI log in.

from Steven Guthrie to everyone: @Mike - thank you!

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Neville, for Siteminder, it’s not needed. PM controls access to Jasper Reports, and PM supports Siteminder SSO.

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: @Chazz we use the live exceptions capability for routers and switches, servers and application and response path element types using custom profiles with email notify recipient's in addition to generating SNMP events which are iforwarded into Spectrum IM

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Mike, all of those features exist at this time in CAPM Event and Notification functionality.

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: @Michael, ok, great, thank you from Michael Poller to everyone:@Mike, no problem. You're welcome.

from Steven Guthrie to everyone: @Mike - I dropped a note to Darrell and Andy at Devoteam and Glenn here at CA that you were here today and asking good questions from Mike Bryanton to everyone: @Steven, thanks - we have a call set up with those guys on

from François Cattoen to everyone: Does everyone know about this community page related to the CA eHealth to CA PM transition: https://communities.ca.com/docs/DOC-231169490?

from Mike Bryanton to everyone: we do now! Thanks from Catalin to everyone: what's on the roadmap for HA?

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Catalin, we're working on solidifying the release plan for the next two releases. I'll let Matt Stormann know you're interested in the roadmap

from Catalin to everyone: When is the next release ready for test drive? I did not see anything on the Polaris User Group from bal bansal to everyone: when’s the next sprint 3.2??

from Chazz Kellner (privately): Catalin Farcasanu <catalin.farcasanu@solvitnetworks.com>  from Catalin to everyone: I have an NQA support inquiry in the Ideas. It's still marked as being New.

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Bal, there is no date set yet, they are in the final planning stages. We believe one should be scheduled in the next 4-6 weeks. Of course, that is subject to change.

from bal bansal to everyone: thanks from bal bansal to everyone: would like to see context menus controlled via user roles from bal bansal to everyone: currently if you remove any edit, does it for all user

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Catalin we're looking at when we'll have something ready to test and will post in the Polaris community when we do

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Bal, that would be a great one to submit to the Idea wall postings to request a new feature.

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Catalin, do you have a link for that? We'll follow up with Product Management about that.

from Catalin to everyone: Are there any technical translation teams in place for migrating from eHealth to PM? Is there any way to get in touch with them?

from Michael Poller to everyone: @Catalin, is it this posting?

https://communities.ca.com/ideas/235726577

Catalin to everyone:  @Michael: yes, that would be the one.

from Michael Poller to everyone:  @Catalin, OK. We'll follow up with Product Management. from Catalin to everyone: I would like to see what's on the roadmap for OpenAPI.

from Steven Guthrie to everyone: @Catalin - I met with Mihal, Constantin and Ionut a couple weeks ago at EMEA DevX17 and Mihal was going to send me an invite for a deeper briefing on the transition tools we have - I'll ping him to remind him I'm available for a conversation

from Chazz Kellner to everyone: @Catalin I'm talking to another product manager and we'll get back to you about the OpenAPI

from Catalin to everyone: Steven: it's been a busy period for us here. I will talk to Mihai about this. I did not know about the discussions you had.  from Catalin to everyone: looks like I'm the only one that asks questions at least now.
