Tech Tip : CA Single Sign-On : When installing SPS in console mode on Linux the installation hangs with no error

Aug 03, 2017 09:27 AM

Question:

We are using a service account to install SPS on Linux, and the console installation is hanging when it arrives at the pre-installation summary, but we do not see any error messages on screen or in logs. How we can solve this? Why there are no errors when this happens?

Environment:

SPS R12.52 SP1 on Linux

Answer:

The issue was caused as the account used to install SPS has not enough write permissions on the destination folder. If you run the installer in GUI mode, it shows the following error:

Error!
You do not have the write permissions to the chosen installation destination.
Please choose a different location for installation.

The installer has been fixed in R12.52 SP1 CR05 to show the same error in console mode when this happens.
