from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: HI Everyone, thank you for joining !

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: so this is office hours for SOI newly named 'askCA'. I am Melissa your CA Community Manager

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: please go ahead and ask questions, i have the support team here with me

from John Schutz to everyone: Do we have a roadmap for SOI ?

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: What is the futue of PAM server? Will it be incorporated into later version of SOI?

(ACTION) from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: @John, hi there John, i have the support team with me not product management today, but i will ask our product manager to reach out to you to schedule a session to discuss roadmap.   kumsa49

from Michael Boehm to everyone: PAM (Process Automation) is in the process of being replaced by a different CA-technology: NIM. this is done to reduce additional licenses and technical efforts to connecto to 3rd party Service Desks.

from Channing Hill to everyone: Could you give some insight into whatever DOI is? I think that is the name. Also, will it replace SOI?

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: @John, also, i suggest you bookmark this page https://www.ca.com/us/product-roadmaps.html

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: as we are hosting 'roadmap sessions' for many products

from John Schutz to everyone: ok will look at that page

from Michael Boehm to everyone: DOI: Digital Operations Insight. this is a new technology currently being developed. it makes use of Elastics and other technologies, called tha data-lake. There will be some features realted to "Services", but that is "in planning". there are no concrete plans to "replace" SOI.

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: @John, i will have Saket reach out to you (product manager)

from John Schutz to everyone: What is DOI based on ???

from John Schutz to everyone: What is NIM ??

from Michael Boehm to everyone: Sorry, I used the wrong name: Digital Operations Intelligence.

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: what is the last date of support for SOI v 3.3?

from Kiet Luong to everyone: @John NIM - Normalized Integration Management

from Michael Boehm to everyone: DOI is based on Elasticsearch, and all the connected technology, ELK, LogStash, ..... details to come, it is not GA yet

from John Schutz to everyone: Will DOI integrate with SOI or operational will they live side by side

from Michael Boehm to everyone: NIM is an already exising technology to provide connection to 3rd party Service Desk by data mapping. currently it know something like 10 such tools. SOI will connect to NIM to provide easier connection than PAM

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: will NIM allow more open integration to Service Now than PAM?

from Kiet Luong to everyone: @Bob, EOL for SOI 3.3, CU1, CU2 is May 16, 2018

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: Thanks

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @John: everything I am writing related to DOI is "plans", thus dont quote me on that, it is not a GA product yet. SOI and DOI (in the first version) a serving different purposes. There are plans to let SOI and DOI talk to each other to exchange data in both directions. and possibly somwhen in the future they will work closer and closer together - which makes sense. but as I said, these are plans.

from John Schutz to everyone: @Micheal What you mean by "currently it know something like 10 tools"

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Bob: can you please explain what you mean with "more open"?

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @John: I dont have the list in front of me, but I know that there are about 10 Service Desk connections already defined in NIM, e.g. we can plugin with SOI and make use of these known connections directly.

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: Well i mean being able to modify the PAM content locally on site.

(ACTION) from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Bob: that depends on what you want to do. NIM is mainly a method of data-ampping and transfering the information between the products (SOI and Service Desks). we can go further into detail offline.

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: sure that sounds good.

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: Hi there, if you just joined - thank you. support team is here ready for your questions....

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: Also it appears we have a finite set of data to pass though SOI to Service Now. (as in the userattributes) it would be nice to have this expanded.

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Bob: this is something that should be easier in NIM. you can define new/update the data-mappings

from Lukas Treuse to everyone: Hello Everyone,
first of all thank you for the opportunity to ask you questions, I have one about the Queue Monitor, because we use it for troubleshooting delays in the alarm displaying.
Is there a documentation with a description about the several Job Queue’s for example “SOICAT Alarm Queue” or “NotebookNotify”?

from John Schutz to everyone: @Michael, Santander are looking to exploit "data lake" big time... feed it with all manner of data and run analytics against it ... operationally how would DOI help them

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Lukas: there is no direct Documentation about the different parts, because this is a tool used under guidance with Support. The exact details are best discussed in specific cases with CA Support

(ACTION)from Michael Boehm to everyone: @John: can we please discuss this offline, it goes more into detail that in this forum.

(ACTION)from Kiet Luong to everyone: @Lukas: Please log a ticket and I will get the answer for you

from John Schutz to everyone: @Micheal, Can you share the white paper or any thing that is in the public domain on it ..thanks

from Brian Carb to everyone: I have a question about restarting SOI components and their interaction with other products.
We apply microsoft patches once a month to all our monitoring products.
Currently, we have been shutting SOI down, patching and restarting DB server, Service desk, etc, then restarting SOI.
With 4.2, SOI seems a little more robust, so I'm wondering if it would just wait on SD or DB and reconnect.
Opinions?

from Lukas Treuse to everyone: @Michael, Kiet: Thank you for the answer, we will do so in case of problems with this queues

December 12, 2017 10:33:24 AM from Michael Boehm to everyone: @john: as soon as it is GA there will be documentaiton about DOI available. currently it is Beta. there were some presentations at CA World 2017, but I dont know what of that is publicly available already, because it is not GA yet.

(ACTION) from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: @John, @Michael - i will follow up with marketing team to see if there is any documentation coming out of CAWorld for DOI.  Jeremy_Rossbach

(ACTION) from John Schutz to everyone: @Micheal .. ta ... also if there is beta programme available to join  kumsa49

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Brian: that is difficult to answer. it depends on which components you are patching. everything that is dierectly used by SOI (such as the DB) SOI must be shut down. The Service Desk can be restarted, and SOI will lose connection and re-establish it

from Brian Carb to everyone: If the DB is clustered, and just failed over, should SOI should be ok with this interruption?

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: 20 minutes left in our chat session. Who has more questions?

from Brian Carb to everyone: We get questions from our teams about Alerts that we forward from SOI to other products, and we research these in SOI. Too often, we are forced to look directly at the DB via SQL Mgmt Studio, because the SOI doesn't seem to have a great way of dealing with cleared Alerts. Are there any little known tips on how to deal with cleared alerts other than Cleared History?

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Brian: that is the purpose of having an SQL Cluster. SOI should work - it might have some interuptions. this should be looked at in detail if there are issues

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: Does SOI support virtual SQL cluster? We are planning on converting Physical to Virtual (vmware)

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Brian: Cleared Alerts are mainly used for "history" purposes in SOI. SOI itself doe not ake use of them in any way. thus, there is nothing in SOI to make easy use of Cleared Alerts. SQL is the main info tool for this.

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Bob: That is a question for MS, not SOI. SOI needs a DB, and it does not rely on that DB being on a specifc type of machine. I know many customers running their DB on VM.

from Bob Tuttle to everyone: Ok thanks

from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Bob (continuing SQL): the DB has to be available to SOI. thus, make sure it is realiable and accesible. it requires sufficient resources (RAM, disks) and stable connection.

from Brian Carb to everyone: Re cleared alerts: I guess I was dreaming of a way to see the entire timeleine history of an alert - start to finish. What queues it went to, what actions it fired, what services it affected, etc.

(ACTION) from Michael Boehm to everyone: @Brian: this is a good example that is shown in DOI, which is for keeping all data over years and can show such a timeline. All the specific details of the SOI-lifecycle might be a challenge to show, but it is a very good Use Case I will recommend to the team. thanks

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: just wanted to let you all know.. that we have some relatively new communities out there for UIM, PM, Spectrum. here is a community directory.. https://communities.ca.com/docs/DOC-231166155

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: ok, so we are winding down now... any final questions for the team?

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: chat will remain open until top of the hour in case you think of anything further.

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: chat transcripts will publish to SOI community later today. https://communities.ca.com/community/ca-service-operations-insight-soi

from John Schutz to everyone: stupid question but do we get a transcript of this

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: @john, yes, i publish the transcript to the community. always.

from John Schutz to everyone: can't seem to copy the chat

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: no worries, i'll publish later today....

from Michael Boehm to everyone: As a final reminder: everything about DOI is "Plans" - normal disclaminer

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: OK. that is a wrap for today. Thank you so much for joining !

from Melissa Potvin (CA) to everyone: you may disconnect, have a great day everyone.
