Add Affected Service to category form (detail_pcat.htmpl) to populate in the same manner that Group or Assignee are when a category is chosen with these values set.
This can be achieved by developing a Spel code.
Create an attribute srel to nr object in pcat object.
Develop the spel code to auto-populate the attribute value from category to affected service in Ticket.
I think Fred is saying that he'd like this "out of the box" as he logged it in the Ideas section.
Could you add a few comments as to WHY this might be a good idea? That is, why a general enhancement that most sites would benefit from, rather than a code change as above. Your idea will get more votes if people can easily hang their hats on the change.
OOTB is always desired... If a particular category (area) is only found under one service then this would be one fewer field to fill in in the resulting record and would show up on scoreboard queries and reports that are based on Affected Service the moment it is created. Having originally posted this Idea over a year ago (and contemplated the issue for some time before) I moved on to ajusting the process to be based on templates or knowledge documents (which can have many fields that can be populated). Thanks all! -fred
Thanks for the update. Looks like Venkat and I totally missed the "created on" date being a year back.
Everyone - we're going to have to watch that. The "Last Modified Date" on many posts got updated to this week, as it was updated when Categories in this community were consolidated. It doesn't actually mean that the last change was this week - look at the prior post "Created on" date to be sure.
You can still vote on this idea, of course, even though a workaround has been implemented.
