Ability to prevent an Inactive Parent ticket to be associated to an Active Child ticket

    Scenario:

    In this scenario, the following currently applies to CA SDM (up to r14.1):

     

    1. There is a Parent ticket with a few Children associated, all closed.
    2. Edit_Inactive option is installed and set to NO.
    3. A new ticket of the same type is opened and an INACTIVE Parent is associated to it.

     

    Behavior:

    The Edit_Inactive configuration will not apply here, because the Parent ticket information is registered in the Child ticket (which is currently active). It will only apply if the inactive Parent ticket is edited, changed, and you click the Save button.

    Currently CA SDM does not have an option to prevent this from occurring.

    For some customers, this is an undesired behavior, even considered as a bug.

     

    Solution Proposed:

    Create an Option which, when installed, will not allow such type of association to be done.
