For several releases Datacom has allowed a range-ending value to be placed on GSETL/GETIT command to eliminate sequential read ahead overhead when rows are retrieved by MUF that will never be processed by the application. Having implemented the MESSAGE_DETAIL_G YES start-up option we see several MetaCOBOL applications that would benefit from the range-terminating option.

However MetaCOBOL applications have no syntax to code this terminating value (and the flag to activate it).

We request that MetaCOBOL be enhanced to allow LOCATE SEQUENTIAL WITHIN RANGE WHERE keyname IS startvalue THRU endvalue so that the applications can be enhanced to implement this significant Datacom performance enhancement.
