  • 1.  Is it possible recording Capex and OpexI  in the same task?

    Hi Communitie,

Is it mandatory that I have to create one task for register Capex and other task to register Opex?

I´d like to register both in a same task, so I have created a cost plan grouppin CHARGE CODE and COST TYPE attribute, in which I have capex and opex.

As you can see on the image bellow, Opex has CAPITAL as COST TYPE...

...but I dont know where I can set COST TYPE Operational for this expense because in the transaction entry I have no option:

Sounds an looks like that it is not possible with standard functionality.

So custom fields, custom functionality, custom reports and portlets and views and custom processing.

    Hi NJ!

Just to have a single task to register costs, making schedule more simple.

For me, Its not a problem having one more task, but we have some users too fixated in simplify processes, workflows, schedules....

    Regards

To be able to see the 'Cost Type' attribute on the Task, you need 2 things

1- Configure the attribute on the task properties page through studio

2-Add the appropriate security access right to edit the field

Reference the Clarity 13.2 Change Impact and Upgrade Guide, and the Tuesday Tips Topic discussing the new Cost Type attributes (it is a series of 3 postings)

    Nei,

Actually, no, there is no way. The task is the minimal "unit" of work so it will go either to CAPEX or to OPEX. Not both.

And normally companies do not want to leave that decision to end users (for compliance reasons) so Cost Type is not available "everywhere".

For Planning purposes, you start with % Capitalization at Team level, then you may go to capex/opex definition on Project/phase/activity/task level.

For Execution - unless I am very wrong - Clarity will assume the task's Cost Type for actuals. And you can only have ONE cost type per task.

If cost type is blank at Task Level, it defaults to the higher level, until project (For instance, Task->Activity->Phase->Project)

    Hope this helps.
