CA Service Management

Within CA Software Asset Manager, we have "Refresh Effective Demand" scheduled to run via a cron job.  However, for any users with Read/Write access to Software, they can click "Refresh View" at any time, which slows our system down.  Can CA SAM be updated so that we can choose to make the "Refresh View" link is disabled for anyone other than "superusers"?

Hi CA Support,

Is there any way of tracking whether or not this does become a successful enhancement request?  I was advised to raise a discussion and subsequently an idea as the method of raising an enhancement request.  However as far as I can tell it has neither been accepted or rejected so at the moment I have nothing to go back to my users with in terms of an answer.

As far I know, there is no way to disable or remove that link from the screen.  Yes, Effective Demand is calculated nightly via a cron job, but that link allows you to refresh it now without waiting.  And there is no way to remove that link.

Thank you for getting back to me.

That's kindof why I'm raising this (hopefully as an enhancement request?); because of the amount of data in our system I can see no value in this link being visible for users to refresh on an ad hoc basis.  What I'm saying is that I'd like to stop people from being able to click that link ad hoc, as it slows our system down due to the levels of data we have.  It may be that no other customers experience this but it's something that's hit us a couple of times now.  Our users understand that the data is up to date as of the past day, so I'd really like to request an enhancement which removes this option.  Is this possible?

Yes, I saw your idea posted.  All I can say is that right now, this is not possible.
