  • 1.  getting the database schema scripts before having a DB

    Posted May 11, 2015 08:00 AM

    Hi All,

could somebody send me the scripts to install CapMan DB manually? or let me know where to get them, if we need to manually install the DB before installing CapMan?

if i choose custom type installation/database scripts&database schema i need to specify the DB connection information in the next step (that i dont have as i need to manually install the DB at first [it's our customer's request] and it fails, if i put just nonexisting information.

i found this information in the guideline, but couldnt get it in any way as it seems to be as no way to run the installation without specifying the DB:

"You can optionally choose to have the installer generate the
database scripts without running them. You might want to do this if
you want to examine the scripts before they are run or if you have
created a test database which you would like to drop and then
    recreate.
    "

    thank you,

    stefan

    Hi Stefan,

You must ensure that the Oracle database is installed and configured before installing Capacity Command Center (CCC). CCC does not require any changes to the Oracle configuration default settings to run.

Before installing CA CCC, you must create a CCC database user name (schema name) and password and grant the required database permissions

Please refer section 5.1 for Installation prerequisites in CCC Installation guide.

The link below has the script that will allow you to create a database user, grant permissions to the user and create required tablespaces in Oracle database, however please refer section 4.1.2 Authorizations for the Oracle database in CCC Installation guide.

    Hi Surendranath,

and if i have a prepared DB with access to it, can i generate the DB scripts that i can use for later manual installation?

i mean, if i run the CCC installation what to choose to dont configure the DB, just get the scripts that i could pass to the DB admin (=i cant modify the DB, the DB admin has to do that because of internal policies).

    thank you,

    stefan

    Hi Stefan,

Please refer section 5.3.4 Running the database schema scripts manually in CCC Installation guide, it covers your question and other questions that you may have around this topic.

You can download CCC Installation guide from the link below

    Hi Surendranath,

i started this discussion with reference exactly to section 5.3.4 Running the database schema scripts manually as you write.

and as i couldnt manage to get it, i asked for confirmation from somebody who already done it =

"if i run the CCC installation what to choose to dont configure the DB, just get the scripts that i could pass to the DB admin and he will manually run the scripts and configure the DB?"

    1. can you please answer this question

    2. and confirm that the DB wont be configured during installation, if i choose DB as well?

    3. if it is configured, can you please send me the auto-generated scripts for DB from <ccc_install_folder>\ccc-migrations\standard\scripts? when i run the installation without choosing DB option, this folder was empty after the installation.

    thank you,

    stefan
