Endevor

  • 1.  Anyone know how to create a report from a CSV o/p file?

    Posted Jul 31, 2015 03:17 PM

I was asked to create a report using CSV, which is a first for me. Was able to create the o/p file

by following the CSV section of the utilities manual, but that's  where I stop. I've searched around and can't

find what to do to actually create a report from this file.

THANKS TO ALL WHO SUBMITTED A REPLY.  ENDED UP DOWNLOADING TO AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET.

    THANKS AGAIN.

The CSV is just an extraction of data stored in Endevor.  If you transfer it from the mainframe to your PC with a CSV extension it will open the output as an EXCEL format.  From there you can use EXCEL to create graphs or use a Pivot table to report on what you want.  I have not used that in Excel before, because I am not a Excel Wiz, but the data that you can export is always of value.

If you are needing to run a regularly-scheduled report of Endevor data, consider the "Table Tool" - ENBPIU00. If you own Endevor, it is available to you. It can read CSV files and build reports (or other outputs) from simple batch instructions.

    See examples,

    https://communities.ca.com/thread/241693094
https://communities.ca.com/docs/DOC-231151499  (where a CSV utility is requested to build output without the CSV format. Table tool is reading the data in a fixed format)

Substitute the name TBL#TOOL (an older name) name with ENBPIU00. You can execute ENBPIU00 as shown in the second example.

The "Table Tool" step allows you to format your output to whatever format you need. The input can be any CSV file, including outputs from the Endevor CSV utility for element or package data.

There is a technical document written and available TEC616107,  the URL for the TECDOC is:

    http://www.ca.com/us/support/ca-support-online/product-content/knowledgebase-articles/tec616102.aspx?intcmp=searchresult…

This will guide one through the creation of the CSV data, downloading the file to you PC and then sending it to an EXCELL spread sheet.
