CA Service Management

Hello Crew,

I wanted to change My CA Service Desk  WEB interface URL from       http://caservicedesk:8080 /CAisd/pdmweb.exe    to  some other like  http://helpdesk/CAisd/pdmweb.exe

is it possible and how to

My environment was:

CA SERVICE DESK :  r12.5

Windows 2012r2 operating system,

host name: CASERVICEDESK

what is your platform, IIS or Tomcat?

Defaultly IIS works on port 80, so you can access SDM without any port definition,

there should be some configuration in web.cfg if you're using webdirector,

but if you are on tomcat youd better refer to tomcat port configuration, I'm not sure could it be configured to 80 instead of 8080.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. But all that needs to happen here would be creating a new internal DNS record for helpdesk mapping it to the ip address of caservicedesk .  You can't route traffic to a helpdesk hostname/dns if they don't already exist.

thats true. I've noticed only port change :)

In addition to everything else already stated, I'd also verify in the NX.env that any url pointing to the old address should be adjusted (the servlet url for example), the change should also be manually done in the NX.env_nt.tpl.

You'll also want to validate that your attachment repository url is also corrected.

you mean to say that if i would change URL in Servlet Url  @ NX.env_nt.tpl.

then i can achieve it.

I believe the attachment servlet still has to go through Tomcat - i.e. the URL still has to specify port 8080?

I would recommend making sure that you test things like the CMDB Visualizer and Attachments once you have made all your changes. Having done this kind f thing before its easy to get the main app to work on the new URL but its easy to miss the other little applet functions which may require some additional config.
