    Hi folks,

    according to the doco:

    introscope.agent.threaddump.MaxStackElements

    The total number of lines in the thread stack trace determines the size of a CA Introscope thread dump. This property sets the number of lines allowed in the thread stack.

    Property settings

    Integer greater than 0 and no greater than 25,000

    Default

    12,000

    Example

    introscope.agent.threaddump.MaxStackElements=12000

    Notes

    Restart the managed application so that changes to this property can take effect.

    I have a QA environment facing issues and the Threaddump is about 32K lines -  Triggering the Threaddump manually is a very complex task - Does anyone here know how to increase this hard limit?

    Regards,

    Alexandre

    From what I see there is a enhancement request in the system to get the introscope.agent.threaddump.MaxStackElements limit increased above the current limit of 25000. However until that is implemented I am not aware of any other way to increase it up to the 32K you need.

    This question is very old but I just stumbled across the same issue. I'm wondering why no-one from CA hasn't posted an update this question or the idea To increase the maximum stack elements in thread dump yet, as it seems that the limit for

    introscope.agent.threaddump.MaxStackElements

    has been increased meanwhile.

    In the APM troubleshooting guide that was uploaded in an updated version in November 2014 already:

    CA Tuesday Tip: An update on the APM Troubleshooting guide

    The document https://communities.ca.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/241711299-75131/APM%20Troubleshooting%20Guide.pdf  reads:

    If the threadump is huge, increase the following property in the agent profile. The limit is 50000

    introscope.agent.threaddump.MaxStackElements=12000

    I'm not sure for which version of APM this statement applies. Is it APM 9.5 and all following versions?

    Seems we just have to test, but a statement from CA and updates to the discussions and ideas in the community would be nice to find the latest information when searching for it in the community.

    Best Regards

    Hi aleandrade,

    I received an answer in the idea To increase the maximum stack elements in thread dump that CA fixed this in APM 10.1 and increased the limit to 100,000. So in the latest version you can go far above the old limit of 25,000.

    Maybe starting in APM 9.5.1 and continuing to APM 10.0 you could probably set 50,000 as max value, as I believe these could be the versions the Troubleshooting Guide was referring to.

    Kind Regards
