  • 1.  AgentWaitTime and RequestTimeOut

We are receiving 'Socket Error 0' messages within our policy server logs an corresponding '-1' and '-2' errors in the web agent logs. We have been advised to increase AgentWaitTime to help resolve this issue. However we have received  conflicting advice from different sources. One source says that AgentWaitTime should be set to a maximum of about 45 seconds while another source claims that AgentWaitTime should be at least 70.

    1. Is there any official guidance on setting AgentWaitTime?

    2. Is there any point at which a higher value results in performance degradation?

    3. What guidance should be followed for RequestTimeOut?

To your [2] point i.e. "Is there any point at which a higher value results in performance degradation".

The answer is 'No' as these values (RequestTimeOut in SmHost.conf and AgentWaitTime in WebAgent.conf) is purely during the booting up process for the WebAgent. Once the WebAgent is initialized successfully these values do not fall in purview of the Normal Agent Processing (Auth and Az requests).
